socialism
by Bill Rogers
Good thing he’s fighting socialism – that can lead to all sorts of bad things. Like publicly funded universities. Idiot.

Publicly funded universities are not a product of socialism. With any for of government there is always some level of government assistance. We live in a democratic capitalistic society. It is not the job of the government to provide for you. If you would like the government to provide everything for you you are then suggesting that we turn to a communistic society. But the you wouldn't even be able to comment on a political article, since there wouldn't be any.

But yes our current government does provide a lot for ppl in need. Especially children and the elderly. Once you are of age it is then YOUR OWN responsibility.

I would say we're closer to a theocratic facist society, currently, than a democratic capitalistic society. When the corporations dictate governmental policy and political candidates, that's hardly democratic. And when everything is done by the corporations, for the corporations at the expense of the people, that's facism, not capitalism. What we NEED in this country is a merging of true capitalism, democracy, and socialism. If you'll go back and look at that document some guys wrote out a couple of hundred years ago or so, this country was founded by WE THE PEOPLE, and the government is supposed to representative of us and our desires. I can't find one reference in the Constitution to corporations. Societies must have certain levels of socialist programs because contrary to some peoples opinions not everyone, even those of legal age, unfortunately, are able to take care of or fend for themselves. Case in point would be the current POTUS. Name one thing he's ever done for himself. Everything he has ever done or gotten has been arranged by daddy and friends. We don't all have "well connected" fathers. If you utilize public schools, and state universities are part of that, police or fire services, drive on public streets and highways, you're participating in socialism. No one is saying give people free rides, but part of being a society and looking out for EVERYONE in the society. One of the biggest problems we face today is we've become a "me" society, instead of a "we" society.
