Speaking of Obama, is McCain's chaniging the headlines
by Nick_Danger

away from the Dems and onto himself during this long weekend just before the Pug Con-vention, a good thing?

America willl have 4 whole days to think about McCain's ability to make choices for the better or worse.

However briefly vetted by the Repugs, Sarah Palin will be deeply vetted by the press and public this weekend.

And later in the week, she will make her first major speech before the entire USA, the subtext of her speech being that we should vote for the McCain/Palin ticket because Palin has the same sex organs as Hillary Clinton.

No, I don't see this playing well...

Me neither, and as a dem I couldn't be happier. But, here's the deal. He picked a real lightweight, and the fact that she is a former beauty queen doesn't help. She will be criticized for a lot because she is so unqualified in so many ways, and at the end of the day, will make people think twice before voting for a woman again.

Um, dood, no one is "speaking of Obama..."

As for Palin, lets wait and see. She looks and sounds like a natural to me. I think she's gonna wow us. What are you going to say if she comes across as a very down to earth middle class mom who is knowledgeable on the issues, a forcefull communicator and (tada) not an evangelical whack job (but rather someone like RickWA who holds those religious views but doesn't sek to impose them on everyone else)...

It's hard to predict the future but

I think she will be remembered as a political joke, a little more so than most forgotten, failed VP choices.

Dan Quayle has not preventd us from voting for men again although maybe he has given us reason for some second thoughts on the matter.

Nick, you miss my point. Yes Dan Quayle was a joke, but with them there is no barrier to break thru. I seriously believe this woman is going to give women a bad rep, just as if Obama fails at obtaining the presidency, people would think twice before voting for a black again.

She's already blown that image.

She's admitted to not knowing what the VP does and she wants Creationism taught in schools.

Larry Kudlow of CNBC's "Kudlow & Co." asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain's ticket mate.

Palin replied: "As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I'm used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we're trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question."

I think McCain will suffer for this

miuch more than Palin.

But she made the choice to accept a position she is unqualified for, so you can only blame her.
