Jonathan, I really enjoyed this article. I think it speaks of the
variety of scams imagined or otherwise that exist with on-line poker
and on-line gaming in general. What was not mentioned was the
possibility of internal fraud at the poker sites. Any organization
dealing with financial transactions has the possibility of someone on
the inside using the system in an inappropriate manor for financial
gain. Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker are documented examples of
this kind of behavior. The poker sites have the responsibility to
protect their players from being cheated by their employees.
My solution to all this suspicion and evidence is to remove the
poker site from storing, at least during live hands, the information
about the hand. This can best be accomplished by invoking an
independent 3rd party servers to manage the live hand
information for the site. Using an independent 3rd party
will provide a “Brick-an-Mortar” like environment for online
gaming. When you play games in a casino, your cards are meant for
your eyes only and no one knows the order of the cards in the deck.
An independent 3rd party can provide such an environment
by managing all of the Random Card Generation and hand data for the
poker site. When the hand is over, the appropriate information can
be provided to the poker site to evaluate the outcome.
If you are interested in your site using a 3rd party
service like the one mentioned above, check out
