Palin more experienced than Obama?

+1/-1 Reply

That is what some are saying. I buy that she is good for the republicans if they want her, and only for republicans. She is an interesting woman whose stances are for the most part in direct opposition to democrat ideology. That is fine, as it takes nothing from her. But why this need to pretend she is more experienced than Obama? Are you kidding me? Stop embarrassing yourself is my advice. How in the world can you say that. This is a big country and you want to now count years on the city council and time as mayor? When did the highest office or this country ever contemplate mayors and city council members? It is almost embarrassing and totally lacking in intellectual honest.

Compare "experience":

Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2003. After a primary victory in March 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.

(Population, 2006 estimate 12,831,970)

Palin was elected governor in 2006 after defeating incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary and former Democratic governor Tony Knowles in the general election. She was the youngest person, and the first woman, to be elected governor of Alaska. Before becoming governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, and was elected and re-elected mayor of Wasilla for two three-year terms in 1996 and 1999. She also ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor of Alaska in 2002. Palin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Idaho.

(Wasilla is part of the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, its population was 5,470. The 2005 estimate gives it a population of 8,471, although the city website lists the population as 6,715.)

Yes you read that right when she was mayor she ruled over 5,870 people the same population as a few blocks in any big city. Give me a break.

Sorry... but I don't see any executive experience for Obama unless you wish to count his time as the editor of the school newspaper?

Palin is running for VP with McCain... and from what I see today, Obama (supporters) are running as fast as they can from Palin

Compare and contrast.. she has more executive experience and actually ran a budget and supporting administration...(city and state) of which Obama never has

Enjoy your empty suit... let's see what happens in November...mmmkay?

;o)

psssst!

....McCong is fighting cancer ("remission" means exactly that, his face could rot off before Nov:)

...voters aren't going to buy McCongs gamble pook....bank on it;)

18 or 19 months as Governor trumps his STATE legislature and Senate years OTAYYY.

What about her city council and mayor position? Doesn't that give her more years?

What a joke.

Don't forget.. he also ran the school newspaper

And yes.. her time as a mayor and governor (with an administration and budget) is superior to Obama and his habit of only being "present" in congress

It's okay... your loyalty to Obama is commendable and your ability to quickly turn into a nice quasi mysoganista is interesting...

Enjoy...

I have no problem with her as I think she is a good candidate for republicans as she is but can you stop pretending?

Do you think if you say it enough it makes it real?

Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.

There is actually no information on what exactly he was doing as a community dis-organizer and a lawyer. No lists of clients, no documents on his "community activism". Moreover, a city mayor must make sure that road holes are filled, that police has proper equipment. What is the responsiblity of a community organizer? No one knows.

He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004.

How good of a professor was he? Can we get the slides with his lectures? Did anyone read his articles? What did the students say about him? Complete and utter silence.

Yes, he was elected the senator, and he made a speech. That is it? Seriosly? I mean, a guy who runs a gas station has to make more decisions than this putz.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds.

Helped create a legislation is a very broad term. How did the legislation work? Was it successful?

He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

My God, the guy traveled to Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa! This guy is a genius. Okay, I am voting for him.

During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.

Yes, his name was also in the list. Ahm. So, how did this legislation work out? Was it successful? The climate change subsided, the terrorism is gone, no lobbying, and all the nukes are safe.. Right? No? Ahm. What exactly did he achieve?

Before you start saying that running a city, if not even a state is an easy state, I give you the DNC clown, Kucinich. The guy was able to bancrupt the city in 2 years - while in the process, he was nearly recalled. Now, he is a senator, a respected man, but he is experienced enough never ever to dubble in the executive. It's too practical, you see.

So, all in all, Paulin is heads and shoulders above poor Obambi.

Not so fast.

Do you have any experience with small town politics? Been to a zoning meeting? The bare-knuckled politicking and fractious in-fighting can be far more vicious, and require just as much leadership as holding state office.

I know it's tempting to dismiss Palin's stint as mayor out of hand, but you may be doing so unfairly.

The copy and paste part of the debate is over...

You are off the teleprompter, and now you have to explain and prove your points. and you look like Obama - just nothing to comes to your mind, does it?
