McCain names Palin as his running mate

My initial reaction was of the huh variety. Then I became angry. As a female and former Hillary supporter, I'm deeply insulted that McCain would attempt a variation of the shell game to poach my vote. Apparently, he believes two things: that all women are generic and interchangeable and that voters - especially women - are too stupid to notice that he's attempting to substitute a pro-life, gun loving, endangered species hating conservative for a someone whose political views are antithetical to Palin's. This is so typical of the Republicans, who've consistently displayed dismissive disdain for the electorate. Business as usual. Well, this dumb female isn't buying. After this stunt, I only wish I could vote for Obama several times.
Not impressed.

McCain... is... too... old.

Period.

No wonder he picked someone even younger than Obama! The man's had cancer 3 times and would be 73 years old if he started in office. Frankly, he had to pick someone so young just to be sure they'd be alive to take over the presidency when he kicks the bucket!

He's had 4 cancers and he turned 72 today. Just picking nits on the details, but agree with you on everything else.

Excellent post. I agree completely. I, too, am a former Hillary supporter and a woman, and I wonder what McCain could be thinking by choosing such an inappropriate VP candidate. This women is so far-removed from anything that a true Hillary supporter would want in a candidate. She stands for everything that Clinton disdains. I guess you are right that McCain must think we are all the same and that this choice is actually misogynistic. I hope he is exposed for what he really is, by this action. What a scary thought, that he might be President!!

what a scarier thought that Obama could be president. I don't think that he can deliver on even a third of his promises. A tax cut for 95% of americans while giving everyone access to health care and ending dependance on foreign oil. I don't buy it.

So are we impressed that Hillary is everything that today's woman should be ashamed of? How about that she stood next to her lying, cheating husband in front of the world and said that she believes him? How about that she sacrificed her own dignity and that of her daughter for political gain? I hope Mrs Palin has none of Hillary's personal characteristics. It's high time we have a woman in office that is a true role model for today's teens.
Corrected.
