1. The world owes you nothing....that would include the corporations that make the best use of our resources and the protections of our legal system, but make use of government subsidies (both ours and those of other countries) and show no loyalty to the nation. It would include the companies who pay many thousand or even millions to corrupt the government in order to get no-bid contracts (think Haliburton).
2. Lazy liberals...bite me. I'm in the top 5% of taxpayers and have both a full time job and a company on the side. Bush's tax cuts were good for about $17k per year for me. The problem is that I can do simple math. Bush borrowed the money. Who is going to pay it back?
3. The government doesn't owe me a living, but they do owe me a decent effort in negotiating trade treaties. We cannot continue to ease the way for jobs going overseas in the interest of improving profits. We have companies like Microsoft claiming they need more H1B visas, that they cannot find skilled workers. There are too many IT workers out of work for us to actually believe what people like Bill Gates have to say. They just want cheaper workers to improve the profit margin. They bring in workers, forge the documents and ignore the law, just so they can pay them less than the going rate (in violation of the law). I've had to train H1B workers and know that they've come into the country without the basic skills....but they are cheap. GTE replaced US workers with Indian workers. The H1B workers were getting about $17k, while the US workers were getting $50k to $75k. The logic is "we'll bring in 3 of the Indians for each US worker".....and make up in numbers what we lose in skill.
My suggestion, Irving, is for you to find a country that allows you to defend yourself, educate your own children, take care of your own health care, look out for your own spoiled or poisoned foods, trust your own sense about the quality of your medicines or the safety of your car or your airline.....all for the joy of lower taxes and being on your own. I want to live in a country where we stand together for the good of the nation....you go live in Irvingland...some things we do better together and some things we do better on our own. You seem to think that you need no help from government and that you are pretty self sufficient....I'd doubt that your assessment is accurate.
