She's so cool!
by npr1
I 'get' the choice McCain made. I have been arguing with an older woman friend who thinks all of Hilary's problems came from her being a woman. She is going to go for the McCain Palin ticket now because Palin is a wonderful strong woman, which is the way she sees herself (having raised her large family of girls as a single mother, she's going to empathize with Palin's mothering five children). My friend is also religious so she's going to agree with Palin's stance on abortion BECAUSE Palin accepted the responsibility of having a Downs child. And there's more: my friend worked in jobs that were traditionally male and also had been a beauty queen in her youth. She will love Palin and although my friend is a Democrat, she will vote for her and McCain nonethelss.
From Good Intention to Catastrophe
by viewpoint
Your friend may understand the person, but does not consider the flaws in that person's picture of the world.

A person may bring good intention, but a flawed picture of the world can bring catastrophe with the best of intentions.
