this girl is no Quayle

GHWB picked the cleanest GOP running mate he could find, that was a backstop so he could smear the living daylights outr of his opponent. Since then, personal attacks has become the GOP standard for election success. I don't think it will work this time, as the pot is calling the porcelain vase black. Add to the mix an Alaskan girl who's been Governor for a whole two years to reside over the Senate... I think the balance of experience just tilted big time to the Dems. What's more, she's corrupt, she used her power to take vengeance on her ex-brother in law; got him fired as a state trooper and then she fired her cabinet member for disclosing the matter... which now is under independent investigation by vote of the state legislation. Whoa, how's this ticket gonna fly? Did McCain watch Obama's speech and decide he has no chance? It looks that way.

I honestly backed Obama just because the rust belt (and Illinois) desperately needs new life. I figure this guy is probably the same as all politicians but he's going to at least stop throwing away all hope of prosperity. But the more I watch (and I am more skepticle of ALL politicians that the poster who bears that nickname) the more I start to believe that ths guy would make a genuinely good president... something I've never seen in my lifetime. Clinton did a good job with the money but that's about it; JFK tried to do the right things, but they cut him short... besides, I was born in 1959, I didn't know what a president was yet when JFK was in office.

McCain tried to upstage the news of Obama's awesome speech but I think he, instead, just sealed his fate: last night we ate prime rib and this morning he tosses us baloney.

Re: "I think the balance of experience just tilted big time to the Dems."

It has, but since when did simultaneous presenting two contradictory concepts ("Barak is too inexperienced", "Sarah is sufficiently experienced") stopped Republicans before?

Not in my lifetime. Amazing what you can accomplish with no scruples and no rationality; wins alot of elections.

Talk about casting judgement even before the investigation is concluded...is this a habit of yours? Yesterday you hadn't a clue of this woman...today, she's guilty.
Psst... She has 5 kids

I think we can officially put the word "girl" to rest. She's a woman.

I'm not pro-McCain, but I've read quite a bit on Palin. She's a smart woman with a long track history as a reformer. She's going to play very well. Underestimating her, just as Obama and his supporters, have overestimated their own strength, is a huge mistake. Watch the bounce he gets out of this BEFORE the convention starts tomorrow.

We do know about her. She's anti-choice. She's pro-oil. She supports the destruction of Alaska's wildlife for oil and the slaughter of wildlife mammals (bears, wolves). That's enough for me to know that she is not somebody I want running my country.

Days, I would suspect its more of a political move, think about it, The democrats don't respect women, now if the women want to have an important woman in an office for the first time all they have to do is vote McCain, and lets face it, Hillary supporters and Obama don't have a great history, its a smart move.

I'm not pro-McCain,....

...but I just happen to rant using the current GOP and McCain campaign talking points. And I just happen to have already read up on his republican VP choice who is relatively unknown, and has had little national exposure. I also just happen to be actively campaigning for McCain.

Thanks for clearing that up EML

For the love of God, shut the hell up, you pathetic troll-poser!! Your embarrassing your ancestors at this point...

Way to stay abreast of the pros and cons PHDiva. She has five kids, one with Downs...and still rose to the challenge of raising a special needs kid...something to be admired. Can you think of any other governor with 80% approval in their state? I'm pro-choice myself...but considering the decision my own wife and I were faced with concerning our own son and the risk of downs....I can admire the choice she made, it was the same one my wife and I had come to.
Get a clue

The guy didn't get fired. He was suspended, first for 10 days and then the union delayed it for 4.

Oh, and do you even know what he got suspended for? Tasering his 11 year old stepson. If the guy had been any other trooper on the force, he WOULD have been fired. he also threatened his ex-wife and father in law.

There is no sane world in which this guy should be any kind of a law enforcement officer.

Wow. Loosing it much?!

Boy, you might want to see a doctor for some meds. It looks like on November 8th, they'll be talking off some ledge.
You know it's really sad when I see

Dems trying to play the "she's a bad mom for working" card. Like I've said elsewhere, this has been the most INTERESTING election. Assumptions of party identification have been thrown to the wind. I've seen Democrats become intollerant of opposing views. I've seen hatred and discord abound and I've watch the Republicans start to woo the feminist vote seriously. It's been a strange, strange couple of years.

Yep, nothing quite like a philndering candidate who leaves his wife while she is in critical care for his mistress to woo the undecided feminist vote. That, plus wanting to repeal Roe v Wade and being associated with the party who has historically opposed women's rights? Oh yeah...McCain just locked up those ladies real good!
