NoStar home to East WA - Needs Laptop
by predicto

NoStar has gone home to East WA hometown which presently has no computer service. He is recovering very rapidly, but the ribs usually don't let you off that easily. I think the pain from his ribs will keep him out of the game for a while.

NoStar's X and eldest Stepdaughter, Little J's big sister are nursing Bill at present. His church friends were right in there all the way. God Bless the Gacious Harvest Church folks and especially Lady M whose sweet voice rose to the occaision of telling me of the accident and who was so helpful in the early care and trasnportion home of NoStar.

NoStar has received a few generosities from his church friends. I understand his work insurance covers the MD Bills and he has sick leave and such that when added to modest savings should see him through a short recovery period. NoStar is obviously of the Ant ilk as opposed to that of the Grasshopper. Never-the-less, I don't thnk his budget would allow for the purchase of a computer at this time with so many uncertainties, but I figure that's when he needs to be plugged in the most. Unfortunately no Wal-Mart near him has oin stock that cheap Toshiba that does so much and it is 7 to 10 business days away if ordered and shipped to his home. I guess I could go overnight, but it is three business days, anyway... Man, times are tight with me what with my repo actions and family demands on my own liquidity.... I'm a little extended on a new porch/deck roof remodel. Just bought new cordage for the Denjim, Wow! I got 2 spools 600 ft long of 1/2 and 1/4 diameter line each and a 300 footer of 3/4 inch line for about 150% of the cost of six nice, long mooring lines with the splices already in them... Anyone want to sit around and drink free beer and splice some rope while I fix them a nice dinner aboard? heh heh heh. Or perhaps trade pure, new 3 strand line for the artistry of crown and docking loop splicing?

Anyone have a solution to our problem getting NoStar back online while he's down and recovering? Anybody got a spare laptop they can run up to Mid Eastern Washington that they want a reasonable price for fast cash for fast delivery? I will buy if you will fly. Even a lender would be cool. I'd cover your gas and lunch if you have an economy car... heh heh heh.

these are getting tacky. you should probably give it a rest.
Re: NoStar home

Yes, heaven forbid a busted up guy should have his cyber-friends help him get back online fast.

Many persons had asked me to keep them abreast of developments and some have asked if there was anything they could do. If not, Nostar will just have to wait until I buy him one and the standard system can deliver it. If someone wanted to share in this gift, because of my temporary pecuniary embarrassment, I have made the opportunity available just in case. If someone had a used laptop in the area, here was their chance to unload it. I see nothing tacky at all about this.

Besides, you would eny me the therapy of sharing? You brute.

Okay

on behalf of Fraysters then: you get him a laptop, we'll help you finish your porch.

Do you really think NoStar
by Camille Claudel

should be back on line? Physically and emotionally that seems unwise. Therapy, at this point, should be governed by a competent therapist.

On your other matter, I actually was looking to trade pure, new 3 strand line (Samson, ultra blue) for the artistry of crown and docking loop splicing. But it seems I've misplaced it.

Re: Okay

I wouldn't have asked had Wal-Mart in his home town had the thing in stock.

Sorry, after a bit of thinking, I did operate with a misconception....

Thanks for the offer on the porch. I will be okay.

NoStar's prose is his therapy.

Also, I was just wanting all the nice things you folks on the Fray have been wishing and saying for NoStar to get to him personally and directly. I keep telling him that there are hundreds of hits and replies to the NoStar posts and he was really touched. People on both sides of the Battle Lines are concerned for him. I told him it was like a Civil War River scene where the two sides meet on Christmas and trade tobaccy and coffee beans in undeclared truce for the occaision or something.

Yes, I have the line, not the artistry. heh heh heh. Are you near the Oak Harbor Marina ever? I have the card of an old salt in retirement who does those knot boards that I can gaze at for hours... and not retain a dmaned thing hardly. heh heh heh.

you are wrong about therapy

Therapy isn't that easy.

He has a Pastor. He has the Holy Spirit.

If he had a computer you could E-mail him and tell him how you think he should get some kind of therapy.

Pretty much anything can be thereaputic to one degree or another.

So, do you visit the Oak Harbor Marina much? Where do you sail? What do you own/pilot/crew? I have a 34 foot Mainship. A single deisel engined cruiser with a trawler type hull. About the perfect size for me.

You won't sully yourself with idle conversation with me. We ARE boaters, and I'd lend you a bilge-pump any day regardless of your politics or religion.

my advice remains
by Camille Claudel

to seek professional help. And keep away from here for a long while.

The things he needs to work on won't be discussed with either his pastor or the Holy Spirit. Putting a band aid on something that requires repair is a dangerous proposition.

If this pastor is a decent human, he'll agree with my advice. Ask him. On the other hand, if the pastor thinks a professional isn't needed, I'd say he's letting his ego get in the way of sound judgment.

But I do hear your reluctance. What do you have against professional therapy?

Re: my advice remains

I don't know his Pastor. They aren't snake handlers. I think he's still in a bit of shock.

Again, my only thought was to get him the direct support of friends who wish him well. The computer is his window to a whole group of friends. He has them scattered all over the earth in all sexes and ages. I think they would be good for him and give him something to do while he lies abed.

With cracked ribs it will be a while before he can make office calls.

What do I have against professional therapy? Besides the fact that it can be more predatory than car repairing, not much. I've used it myself. A good psychiatrist will sure as hell put a little speed into your case review.... heh heh heh.

I've been diagnosed by two shrinks for the same condition:

Diagnosis 1: Major Depression

Diagnosis 2: Feces Fixation (That guy was full of shit)
