Scary stunt
by Mirabhai
Although McCain's choice of Sarah Palin may be a smart short-term electoral stunt, the prospect that he might pass away to leave a person with no experience whatsoever in national politics is terrifying. Beyond the fact that her life experience is limited to a single state with less than a million residents -- less than one-tenth the population of New York City alone -- she doesn't have any foreign-policy expertise whatsoever. Has this woman ever been outside of North America? Has she even been following the national and global issues that U.S. Senators deal with every day? Can we afford to gamble our international reputation, our national security, and our country's future on finding out?

did you read the slate rules? liberal democrats are not allowed to list the things that scare them as it uses up too much bandwidth. feel free to list what doesn't scare you as i'm sure the list is short.

She has more executive experience in her little thumb than community organizer Obama has in his entire life's experience. She also has a proven track record of reform. She's also a VP nominee.

If VP nominee Palin's inexperience scares you, you must be absolutely horrified of Presidential nominee Obama lack of experience!

Right? Or are you just a hypocrite?

Um, Barack Obama is a United States Senator. He has the same job as John McCain.

Palin has been the governor of a state with a populatioin of approximately 630,000 people for less time than Obama has been a senator. Governors are not involved in setting national foreign policy. Senators are.

But how's this- she is qualified to be president and so is Barack Obama.

Well, in the minds of a lot of undecided voters, they will see this as cancelling each other out, which is the point. It cancells out the experience issue, the historical issue and the change issue. It will add a whole new dynamic to the race.
