Palin neutralizes the experience issue
by Kit-Kat

If John McCain truly believes that Palin is ready to become commander-in-chief--and he better, or he has no business nominating her as VP--then he cannot insist that Obama is not.

That aside, while I am happy to see a woman on the ticket, it's certainly not going to change my vote. Palin's social conservatism is extreme, and a total turnoff. While I am sure she is a wonderful mother and may very well be a good governor, I certainly don't want her in charge of me or my country.

I don't get this argument. Obama is certain to be commander-in-chief if elected. She on the other hand has about a 5% chance of being in the role if elected.

Regardless, she has more experience than he does anyway. Since joining the Senate 4 years ago, he's manage to be on the floor less than 150 days.

Dunno--McCain is old, and being president tends to accelerate the aging process. His age being a factor, he would be foolish to choose someone incapable of governing should he die or suffer serious health consequences. Plus, if asked the question, he can hardly say that he *doesn't* think she is qualified to be president, can he?

Well, she has executive experience - which neither Obama nor Biden have. And executive experience is closest to military experience.

One could argue that this choice neutralizes the experience issue, one could also argue that it neutralizes the historical momment and change in Washington issue.

She could be the First Women Vice President, and she is the only one in the four that is not a Washington insider. Unless she turns out to be another Dan Quayle, it could be trouble.
