PUMAs attracted by Palin never were Democrats to start with
by ockeghem

Any Hillary supporter who would be attracted by the addition of Sarah Palin to the McCain ticket never was a Democrat. Any woman attracted by a pro-life, Christian conservative woman with two years of elected experience can't use the "experience" or "maverick" excuse anymore -- it's clear these PUMAs were always closet Republicans. (Not to mention that the experience excuse was always a load of BS as Hillary has LESS experience in elected office than Barack, which explains why she mismanages her campaign staff -- inexperience.)

Good riddance to these women. Maybe they were Nader voters in 2000 so they relish the spoiler role. But the truth is that we don't need these anti-choice women who think the only qualification for president is one's gender.

Sad thing is, we kind of do... this is going to be a close election no matter how you slice it. McCain's decision to go after Hillary Clinton voters is a very, very smart one.

Obviously you've never heard that famous expression: "I'm not a member of an organized party. I'm a Democrat!"

Shocker: Not all people who tend to vote Democratic agree on all the issues.

For example, say you're a Catholic voter, uncomfortable with or opposed to abortion, and yet you think healthcare is an important issue, and you like Hillary personally or you think having a female candidate would be momentous - that voter I just described does not fall neatly into Republican or Democratic camps.

Hillary lost, so what do you do? Well, healthcare isn't Obama's signature issue - and yet an Obama presidency might be more successful than a republican one at signing something into law...

On the other hand, you never liked Obama personally, and McCain-Palin are closer on social issues... and you like how Palin is a proven fighter, she takes on entrenched interests, has political courage - Obama doesn't...

Back and forth, back and forth... this is why you have *swing voters* because people are complex beings - and parties exist to serve the voters, not the other way around.

You're right - I not a Democrat, but I would have voted for Clinton in a heartbeat. Following party directives has never been important to me. The disdain and contempt spewing from Obama supporters towards Clinton supporters is more of a river than I want to cross. You don't need my vote? So be it.
