but if the argument is that the constitution will make it easier for muslim fanatics to attack us, well then it needs to be shredded. there is a limit to everything, including freedom and rights.

Welcome Comrade!

In Russia, they have almost the same constitution, but the government is totalitarian and no one pays attention to the spirit of the law. They just enforce rules from on high. Glad to know you're in favor of winning the cold war only to.... BECOME Russia several years later. Pass the vodka. Americans are all too quick to vote away freedoms paid for in blood by our founders.

Fair enough, but who gets to do the shredding? Or the deciding as to what, specifically, gets shredded? Or, more generally, who decides when the time has come to fire up the shredder to limit freedom and rights? Which ones get limited? And how does the Constitution "make it easier for muslim fanatics to attack us" anyway? Given your reference to "muslims," does that mean the anti-establishment clause stays or goes? With respect to "attacks," what about the Second Amendment? And what happens if the government is mistaken and, say, on a whim or maybe just on the false allegations of a contentious neighbor or co-worker, casts its hardly infallible spotlight on you? "So sorry, Fenella, that USED to be on the menu until we shredded it and got ourselves a new one. Ah, you want what? Have a court hear your case? We haven't done that in ages."

See, this is the problem, right here. A large number of us are cowards, like Fenella here, and are willing to give up our freedoms for the illusion of safety. The Republicans have spend the last eight years frantically playing to that craven yellow streak; and the Democrats are perfectly willing to pander to it too, when it suits them.

Go back under you bed, troll. Leave the security of the nation to the adults.
