John McCain's Base
by Philadelphia Steve
+1 Reply

"Almost" enough?

It must be actually physically painful for a member of the media to show ingratitude for all those McCain Family barbecues by giving an clear, unencumbered compliment to Hillary Clinton.

Had John McCain given a speech even half that good, the media would be chiseling his face on Mt. Rushmore. But Hillary Clinton gives a clearly great speech and our writers can only give qualified compliments.

The Media's campaign to elect John McCain is taking on airs of desperation. pretty soon they'll be quoting NewsMax verbatim to get John elected.

What John McCain's Base Consists Of
by LeRoy_Was_Here

John McCain's 'base' is: trillionaires, wing-nuts and moon-bats, racists and hillbillies.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few of those last few groups out there.

And as always with ignorant bigots, the funniest part is you don't even think you are one.
Oh. The Guy Who's Still Looking For Those WMDs.

Why don't you give us your description of what John McCain's 'base' is.

And then we could, you know, discuss.

Probably not what you want to do, though.

You made the claim, bigot-boy; if you want to "discuss" it then it's on you to substantiate your goofy partisan bullshit.

They're your words, Sparky-- choke on 'em.

What Makes A Bigot?
by LeRoy_Was_Here

If pointing out that racists will be highly inclined to vote for John McCain makes me a 'bigot', then I would suggest that your understanding of the world is almost precisely upside-down.

Then even have websites now where you can order a 'Racists for McCain' hat or bag or bumper sticker.

Are you going to get all three?

Someone who is stupid enough to beleive that people such as those are indicitive of the party as a whole, thats what makes a bigot asshole.

Maybe you should reread what you posted there, smart guy-- and see if one of the older kids can explain it to you. As usual, you are utterly lost.

Uh, Gee, Did I Say That?

LeRoy: Uh, gee, did I say anywhere that 'all Republicans are racists'? No, as a matter of fact, I did not. I said that racists, this year, would be 'highly inclined to vote for John McCain'.

Are you actually, you know, disagreeing with that?

Because that would be very interesting.

I suppose, in your peculiar kind of logic, you imagine that white supremacists will be voting for Barack Obama.

In veritable droves, no doubt.

Besides the fact that Philadelphia Steve is the only person who believes the media is in the bag for McCain, it's always interesting to me that Democrats are so quick to mark McCain supporters as "trillionaires, wing-nuts and moon-bats, racists and hillbillies" as well as "ignorant bigots."

While some people fitting those cliches do exist, do you really think that explains the 45-50% of Americans who are behind McCain at this point or who will vote for him in the general? Do you really believe that half of America fits that description?

And you wonder why red America votes Republican/ thinks the Left is elitist and condescending. I remember listening to an excellent speech by Howard Dean on this very subject in 2005. You may not think so, but you actually damage the Dems chances when you propagate this sort of nonsense.

Hey dingbat, first of all of it was me not Wolf that mentioned what an asshole you were and No you did not say that all Republicans were racist you just said about the same thing:

John McCain's 'base' is: trillionaires, wing-nuts and moon-bats, racists and hillbillies.

Please go back to pretending to be enlightened or smart or ,,,,,,,,,you know not,,,,stupid.

You're a much better person than I am.

Leroy, are white supremacists going to vote for McCain if they vote? Sure. But they don't represent a drop in the bucket of the overall voting bloc.

That's like saying eco-terrorists and Communists are going to vote for Obama ergo that's his base and if you're one of his supporters that's who you must be.

It's counter productive and it won't help the Dems woo over all the swing voters they need. The pitch of you're all "wing-nuts and white supremacists... vote for us" doesn't work.

How Do You Define 'A Drop In The Bucket'?
by LeRoy_Was_Here

Matt.Woolsey: are white supremacists going to vote for McCain if they vote? Sure. But they don't represent a drop in the bucket of the overall voting bloc...That's like saying eco-terrorists and Communists are going to vote for Obama ergo that's his base

LeRoy: I would say this very much depends on how you define your phrase 'a drop in the bucket'. Several polls have shown that roughly 5% of white voters say they will never vote for a black man (or, presumably, a black woman) for President. Is 5% a 'drop in the bucket'? I do not think so. In a close election, as this is expected to be, 5% of the white voters could easily decide the election. Surely you understand that.

In contrast, what percentage of American voters are 'eco-terrorists'? I would suspect....less than one-tenth of one percent. Perhaps closer to one-hundredth of one percent. What percent of American voters are 'Communists'? At most, one percent...and I think that is really pushing it. Probably closer to one-quarter of one percent.

So no, your analogy doesn't work for me. And I am basing that strictly on percentages.

RK SHIELDS: I mean, that's how they react to the New York Times. John McCain has always been suspect in those quarters because he's been too close to the press. He likes the press. He calls them "my base," his political base, because the press has been so favorable to John McCain, and they like him.
