Poetry as a tool for peace.
by The Stranger

As far as the poem goes, I find it to be very enjoyable. “..to gaze across the desert in your heart toward Jerusalem.” My gaze is directed elsewhere but I do in fact understand the feeling, as do most of my people. I wonder about poetry sometimes. Not about the mechanics and rhythm, but I ask of a poem, is it a tool for peace? Some of my people sit in the coffee houses and take in too much spice and seethe; raving about whose God was here first. This poet’s words calmed them, and this breeze through the palms of our Queen of Cites was welcome. I offer this Hebrew poet, peace and gently go my way.

The Lord is my Shepard

I shall not want

He will maketh me lie down besidein green pastures he will leadth me beside still waters

he will restore my soul

the 23rd psalm

peace be still and the water was still

the peace tht passeth all understanding

the peace of no more wars

the peace of brotherly love

the peace of fair taxation with representation

the peace of knowing

the keeper of the stars

the keeper of the stars

a song on the internet

the peace of knowing the light of the world

the peace of knowing

that you know no atheists or mermaids or unicorns

ever could have created this universe that we live in

the peace of giving thanks to the Holy one

of knowing that sadness last for a nano second in eternity but joy cometh in the morning

a nd never let the sun go down on your anger

just let the holy one judge

the evil ones

bring the young people of the world home

end this war today

peace

Stranger,

i don't require poems to be tools of peace, specifically, but i appreciate your perspective very much.

a man's unassuming considerations of making peace with his God, his fellow man and with himself is a poem with a good theme, though it fails a little on the language.

and i agree-- seething, especially as a coffeehouse pastime is never a good idea.
