Go Hillary!
by IWonder

I've always been ambivalent about Hillary, but the primaries made me a believer. I am proud of what she's done, and I'm glad she didn't sully that during her speech. Still another part of me wishes she had so that I could feel better about casting my vote for Obama in November.

Yes, I have decided that I am voting for Obama come November, but I've got to tell you that it's far past time for Obama supporters to stop demanding that the rest of us join the hive. Your candidate, like any other, is flawed, and assigning dubious motives to those of us who don't worship him is not going to win him supporters. We've had eight years of arrogance, and it looks like the Democrats are poised to give us a few more.

Accept the fact that those of us who haven't signed up for your cult are probably not going to, and then try modeling the type of grace at winning that you are expecting Hillary supporters to adopt at losing. If John Dickerson can do it so can you.

IWonder:

As a male who supported the candidacy of Clinton, argued the merits of Michigan moving the primary up, and Clinton getting her share of Michigan's vote; I agree with your analysis. It is time for Howard Dean and Donna Brazile too quit telling Michigan Democrats to go out to those Republican areas to win converts. It is time for them to move here and extend themselves to a state they and the Dems have alienated since 2004 and most recently in the Obama selection. It is time for both to lay down their arrogance and make peace with this state, the state they have alienated, and the state that could very well go Republican as a result of their arrogance.

Welcome back.

Yes, run. I went home to Florida this summer and the grief over Hillary's loss was still palpable. My stepmother and her friends were all set to vote for Hillary and were devastated when she didn't win the primary. My stepmother, in particular, has been hoping that Hillary would somehow pull the nomination out of the convention although I tried to tell her that would never happen.

Several of them even switched parties to vote for Hillary in the primary only to discover that their vote didn't count anyway. What really surprised me was how Hillary won over so many of my diehard Republican friends and family. These were people who were not her fans before and who are still not fans of Bill.

So let's hope the Obamafans can move on and stop blaming Hillary and racism for causing an election loss that hasn't happened yet. It seems to me that it's up to Obama to win this election, and until tonight, he's spent a little too much time on the math, the policies, and the strategy and not enough time on the people.

Thank you, RM77. When it became clear that Hillary could not win, I was philosophical about it. So I was really surprised to realize, as I watched the convention, how much grief I feel over her loss. It's good to know that I have a friend I can grieve with.
