Typical Slate Hit Piece

So I began my reading on Slate today with an article about how if Obama loses, it can only be explained by racism.

Next up is a Saletan hit piece questioning Phelp's medal. He spends 8 paragraphs setting up the anti-Phelp's argument (Phelps didn't touch first - maybe!) only to admit that swimming governing body and all the swimmers and coaches were aware that the official timing was not measured by "touching" first but by activating the sensor. So he is left to argue: 1) certain people have mischaracterized the way Phelps won ("touched first" v. "activated the sensor first") and 2) pure speculation about whether Cavic knew how much pressure was necessary to activate the sensor and whether he would have changed his stroke had he known the pressure amount was say, 1kg/cm v. 3kg/cm.

These swimmers had been in the same pool using the same sensor for over a week by the time this event happened.

This is why I read the Slate... You can learn more from the Fray than the article itself... ; )
