Great luck for Obama
by tychobrahe

I don't think it's far-fetched to wonder if Politico was trying to help Obama in two ways: embarrassing McCain with the question itself, and more importantly by bringing up Obama's house (Rezko) issue during the dog days of August. As Dickerson mentions, the Rezko issue was definitely coming. However, making McCain swing wildly with it now is far preferable to having this ugliness arise in the late weeks of October. The Obama camp had to be hoping that McCain would bring up Rezko now so that when people really focus on the election after Labor Day, it can be dismissed as old news. Politico and McCain opened the door, and Obama pounced, spoofing McCain into dragging out the Rezko issue now.

BTW, the genteel Obama is gone for good - he's too smart (and Chicago street smart) to repeat Kerry's mistakes, especially as his numbers head south. Obama may even pick Hillary as his running mate. As Obama recently said - McCain has no idea what he's in for. Since I detested Lee Atwater, I am loath and a little ashamed to admit that Obama's mission is now "to strip the bark off the little bastard." Obama will have a lot to work with. McCain's ace in the hole is Rezko, but that is an asset that is already beginning to waste.

I am sure McCain is shaking in his boots. Obama is a joke. You know it and I know it. He was terrible at Saddleback and is starting to panic. As for as the housing controversy, that is going to be a non issue for McCain; but will hurt Obama in the long run. You all are grasping at straws.

If McCain couldn't beat Dubya, how come you're so impressed with him?

Could it be because now he's got Rove on his side?

What is so amazing the way Obama speaks to people like insulting their intelligence. He learned to play hard ball poilitcs in Chicago (refer to CNN.com/reveal) and has nothing to show why he should be the best qualify person for President.

Obama has shown every reason by he should be President, but the primary one is that he has a fully functioning brain.

Obama got us out of Iraq. Just a couple months ago Bush bristled at the mere mention of timelines for withdrawl. Obama goes to Iraq, speaks with Maliki about a sixteen month timeline, he agrees, next thing you know Bush is close to a deal with Iraq for troop withdrawl with a timeline.

Obama isn't even president yet and he changed Iraq policy.

Obama wasn't a big hit at Saddleback for the 10% of the electorate that the audience there represents. The vast majority of Americans that aren't represented by the Saddleback audience thought he did pretty well.
