Sticks and stones may break my bones....

But name calling is always silly. Dahlia Lithwick's article takes a serious political issue and turns it into a junior high hairpulling match. That says a whole lot more about Dahlia than it does about Senator Clinton's supporters. Unfortunately, the civil rights that feminists fought for apply to all women, even silly immature ones like Dahlia Lithwick.

I think you missed her point. I don't think Dahlia is talking about Clinton's supporters in general, I think she's pointing out that this relatively small but vocal group of protesters are undermining their own stated goals. Their stated aim and their actions are in conflict.

I would argue that PUMA et al are the ones turning this serious political issue into a junior high hairpulling match. They claim to be championing women's rights, yet they're doing their best to ensure that a misogynist like McCain gets elected?

I think, in fact, that Dahlia would agree with you. Let's dispense with these absurd, indeed even anachronistic, histrionics and have an adult conversation about sexism in America.

If Dahlia felt that some of Senator Clinton's supporters were truly undermining their stated goals, she should have said exactly that. However, instead of handling the issue like a mature journalist, Dahlia decided to call lots of silly names and shake her pom poms at everyone. When she grows up, she can try to convince us of a logical rational point. Until then, she should check the mirror because she has a giant zit that will look really gnarly at the prom.
