McCain 5 Point Lead over Obama/Reflections On The Fall of BO
by LaurieAnnM

Jack posted below that he hates to bring this up here...of course that was tongue in cheek on his part, we all know he loves bringing up this fact. As do I..However....

I thought it might be better to put the harsh fact of life for the bots now surely waking up and heading back to the Koolade Troughs as I type.

Maybe one or two will be caught unawares and recognize what everyone has been trying to tell them for months...

i.e. the American people are not going to vote for a guy who sat in that lunatic racist anti American Church for twenty years and then tried to wiggle and lie his way out and all around that fact...

Additionally...the NBC/MSNBC media also killed Obama's small chance to be president by shilling for him so annoyingly, endlessly, day in and day out, that it turned many Americans right off.

<link>

(reference Obama Media Love reprise:see link here)

No one wants to have any candidate literally shoved down their throats with the sort of unbelievably fawning, worshipping,DRIVEL that the media and many of Obama's supporters tried to press onto the public.

People smell a phony when someone pushes anything or anybody on them as hard as the media did with Obama. It was the over kill and star struck, dream world manner that the media tried to push onto the public that also turned many people off.

But mainly,at the end of the day, Obama is now losing to McCain because of his lackluster performance (when he doesn't have the benefit of a speechwriter)..it's his inexperience & his lack of deft in handling even the simplest of questions without a speech writer giving him his lines.

Of course there is one more reason Obama couldn't win...and that his the very poor handling by the DNC, by Howard Dean and Donna Brazile in the manner with which they front loaded the primaries this year thus making the impression Obama was being given special favor, which in turn, lead to resentment among the Hillary Contingent.

The vicious way the Hillary voters were treated prior to and for months literally following his nomination didn't help the democrats.

What were the crazy bots thinking?

Did they think they didn't need the Hillary contingent and it was a good idea to keep attacking Hillary and keep going on about "pant suits" and "sensible shoes"?

What were they thinking that would do for Obama and uniting the party?

That resentment when her delegates from Michigan were taken from her and handed to Obama was just another chapter entirely in this sordid election season, that split the democrats and caused a great rift and anger among it's members.

So, well,....it's only one poll, you may say...but it's a ..wait for it....ZOGBY Poll!

Zogby has been the most far left of all the pollsters and has shown Obama way ahead all along more so than any other other poll that showed him generally aout 3-5 points ahead of McCain.

So for Zogby to have McCain up by 5 points...It is likely safe to say.....the bloom is off the Obama rose....

The question now will be...just how long exactly does it take to detoxify from the Obama Koolade?

Is it water soluable? Will it flush right out with little residual effects?.or is it fat soluable solution that will have a half life of lingering effects that will continue to distort it's victims minds for a good long time to come?

Perhaps a good diet of fresh perspectives and counseling in the art of reality based testing will help these poor souls manage to re-integrate into functioning society.

Be kind to them America...yes , they were foolish and unwise and over indulged in senseless fantasy that was born in large part more out of a collective hatred for The Clintons ,more than for a greater cause(which was their ruse that only the most naive' couldn't see through).

The fantasy symbol they tried lamely to pretend they believed where Obama was Martin Luther King, JFK and Lincoln all returned to come back in the form of one, skinny, big eared Reverend Wright admiring, slick politico, novice out of corrupt, dirty Chicago politics ...oh! yes! they SO wanted it to be true!

He was THE ONE!

ah...be kind to them as this won't be easy for them...

...because there's no greater fall like the fall of the easily fooled.

You were right all along.

I didn't want to believe it, but I can no longer ignore the evidence, as presented in the following link. Hopefully, I'll remember to lay off the Koolade next time.

addendum...My Obama Love link didn't open in the above post. Here's a good link, below , to that video for those who appreciate how the media really fawned so madly over him that it actually bcame a running joke among millions of Americans..

Interestingly, this link to this video was found now only on an obscure blog becuase there was mass effort on the part of The Obama campaign to have it removed.

They were sucessful in getting many sites that ran it to take it down.

However ,this one on this obscure blog continues to remain:

<link>

It was the same thing when Saturday Night Live had Tina Fey's Great Line "Bitch is The New Black" and it caused a huge protest and outcry from the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign did everything in their power by raging and complaining in order to get NBC to take down the YouTube links to Tina Fey's satirical support for Hillary Clinton by yelling, 'Bitch is The New Black!" on their WeekEnd Update seghment of the show.

Obama 's campaign did everything they could to get that video removed as well.

Free Speech...not something Obama likes much when it reveals things that don't go in his favor.

What a guy!

A Point of Contention
by TheBell

Good Morning back atcha, LaurieAnnM. I have no problem with your post as a whole. Simple observation suggests the tide is moving in McCain's favor at the moment. While I'm not sure I agree with "the fall of BO" in the sense "it's all over" for him, I do think you are correct that his appeal strictly on the basis of being new and charismatic is played out. I actually see that as only for the good, although nobody likes being down in the polls.

On that thought, my one quibble is with you giving extra significance to this being a Zogby victory for McCain because Zogby is somehow so left-leaning that it always favors Obama and by (much) more than other polls. As recently as a 7/31-8/1 poll, Zogby had McCain up 42% to 41%. Going back a little, Zogby had McCain tied with Obama on 4/10-4/12 at 45% all. On 3/13-3/14, McCain was ahead 46% to 40% and on 1/10-1/11 he was ahead again 45%-43%. Obama was ahead in various other polls between these by varying margins.

Zogby is no worse than any other pollster and I think you have every right to celebrate this outcome. However, I don't think its accurate or fair to categorize him as historically favoring Obama consistently and overwhelmingly.

Zogby, like any pollster, is certainly open to criticism. One big, oft-expressed complaint is the unscientific and unrepresentative way by which he picks his survey samples. It is this, more than a left-leaning flavor, that probably gave Obama his sometimes bigger-than-average leads in Zogby polls. Of course, it could also be the reason for the relative size of McCain's sudden lead too.

That said, I leave you to enjoy your victory . . . for now.

Re: A Point of Contention
by LaurieAnnM

Thanks TheBell. It may be true about Zogby or not. I stopped looking at Zogby polls a few months back when I noticed that all the other polls were pretty consistent in showing Obama up by about 3-6 points, but Zogby back then had him up by 8-10 points.....Now Rassmussen which I consider to be right leaning poll consistently showed Obama with only 2-3 point lead and occasionally a tie, to one point lead for McCain.

So we know some pollsters do lean one way or the other but most all at least try to get within the general area of what the trends are.

But if you've been following Zogby recently and you say the polls have tightened on their polls..I certainly beleive you.

At any rate..appreciate the reply and yes, I am enjoying it, of course.

Time will tell if it holds or if Obama as you say can now sell himself on his own merits without the yoke of the 'most charismatic figure since Jesus Christ walked the earth' persona around his neck.

I was considering that angle as well yesterday, because I already feel a bit of sympathy for him ,in many ways..and I wonder if other Americans will now look at Obama as the fighting, bold, underdog and again re-invigorate and rally to prop him back up.

Time will tell..two months to go..yet..

Best to you as always.

"At any rate..appreciate the reply and yes, I am enjoying it, of course."

I don't know why this is but it seems like a defining characteristic between Reps and Dems in this election is the Reps need to do a little shadenfreude dance of joy every time Obama looses a point (or more) in the polls, whereas I haven't seen the Dems doing the same. Maybe they are and I just haven't noticed. But the Reps sometimes seem to be offended, not just by Obama per se, but just by the simple fact that Obama supporters genuinely belive(d) in something. As though, in our hyper-cynical world, having faith in a candidate were an absurd thing to do. As though believing that someone (anyone) might be able to save us from this mess is equivalent to believing in unicorns.

Jack? LAM? What's up with that?

Re: Fox news taps into Lam's brain.
by LaurieAnnM

Because Obama is akin to a unicorn..i.e. his persona is a fantasy ( as in: a fraud).

it's great to believe in something..but just make sure it's for real.

it's not that complicated

it's a function of advertising

people talk about Schmoidt as a student of Rove, but he's an entirely different animal than Rove

he's a communications guy, an adman

that's interesting murph. I wasn't aware of this person. I googled it.

Is this what you're referring to?

If so interesting and thx for the info.

I'm sorry, I'm the worst typist ever.

I was trying to refer to Steve Schmidt, Senator McCain's campaign manager

Oh, okay. Thanks again. It was an interesting find on google search on the ads about the Marines that went against Murtha's postition ..so it was a fun search for me,anyway.

Thx again, murph.

his lack of deft
by nongrata

so you're saying he's wooden and lacks polish?

Re: his lack of deft
by LaurieAnnM

exactly...he does show a lackluster performance, without the benefit of a script.

lacking deft means lacks polish and the ability to shine when on stage.

precisely right.

Re: his lack of deft
by LaurieAnnM
deft means be adroit, quick, sharp, polished in ability and perfomance of a skill. To be totally precise.
