Rare experience
by alisonjane33

Regarding the piece on puzzle people: It's rare that I can't think of anything to say about something other than "this is really dumb," and yet feel sort of compelled to say it anyway, but you know what?

This is really dumb. It's just dumb.

Being at a loss for words can't be very useful when completing crosswords. Maybe you're secretly the kind of person who either reads or changes the world instead?

Heh. I'd have to say I'm really not a puzzle person myself -- I mean, I do the occasional crossword puzzle and I love Wait Wait (which really isn't a quiz show and has nothing logically to do with any of this), but I don't spend much time on it and I certainly didn't take the piece personally. And normally, I'd feel the obligation to be more polite, but I'm just growing increasingly frustrated at this kind of piece, which adds nothing and isn't even entertaining, but kind of seems designed to tick off a part of the population and start a comment war. If it's not that calculated, then complaining about other people liking to spend their free time differently than you do really strikes me as the most "the view of the insides of my eyeballs, and welcome to it" kind of topic. Other people, out of your view, enjoy doing something you do not enjoy doing that does not intrude on you and has nothing to do with you? That's a good thing to shrug off, as opposed to a good thing to make a three-page lunch out of.

Hey, I had a little more to say than I thought! How about that.
