I claim the analysis prize
by GreenwichJ

Last month (July), I wrote a reply to Woolley, who saw no hope for McCain):

John McCain is a likeable guy and is doing far better in the polls than he should be given the state of his party.

Obama is over-exposed. I think by the end the next month people are going to be sick of him and you'll start seeing the first McCain poll leads.

Guess what? The latest Reuters/Zogby poll gives McCain a 5pt lead. If you're interested in what happens next on the basis of my stunningly accurate prediction, read on:

After that anything could happen, the press will certainly panic and fall in behind Obama - after all, they need news, and Obama's the more newsworthy candidate. But by then the McCain camp will have refined its angles of attack and probably shaken a few more skeletons out of Obama's unexplored closet.

Zogby is the guy who declared John Kerry the winner on election day in 2004.

Why don't you learn to read and respond to something that was actually posted.

And Quinnipiac has Obama up by 5 pts. So, do polls matter? Depends on which one you're looking at, I guess.

Ok, you're clearly incapable of learning to read, and/or lack the basic intellectual capacity to respond in a relevant way even if you could. Good for you.

Greenwichj,

I don't think you can really claim prescience. This is not the first poll thats shown McCain ahead, there have been several. Each time someone or other has come on here, trumpeting McCain's remarkable turnaround. Take a look at the running average of polls and the breakdown of the individual polls done and you'll see there is a certain amount of fluctuation.

The polls may be narrowing, but that is after about two weeks of Obama not actively campaigning and some seriously nasty attacks from McCain. I will agree that anything can happen, particularly with the media in love with overarching narratives of comebacks etc. The likely result though is that Obama's numbers will begin recovery in the next couple days with him back on the trail refreshed and with him hitting McCain hard in key states on the economy. This bump could easily combine with the convention bump to create the comeback narrative that the media would gobble up.

Blueshift

McCain did get a recent bump. Whether that's from Obama being on vacation or McCain's recent ads and tough talk about Georgia remains to be seen.

It looks like Obam may still be ahead in the electoral count. Of course, the election is still over 2 months away and we haven't even had the conventions yet. Expect the polls to shift several more times before we have the actual vote. I wouldn't claim any prizes yet.

'McCain did get a recent bump. Whether that's from Obama being on vacation or McCain's recent ads and tough talk about Georgia remains to be seen.'

it was his performance in that thingie the other night. barry hussein sucked. he can't go off script and it was painfully evident the other night. it's like he keeps yammering until he thinks of something to say.

mccain will eat him alive. barry hussein is the same old shit in a dusky affirmative action package.

watch and learn. the original poster sounds like he is on top of things.

The University of Georgia is #1 in the pre-season NCAA college football polls.

Why wait until November? We should just go ahead and ship the National Championship Trophy to Athens before the first game even kicks off.

Ship It To Athens, Georgia???
by LeRoy_Was_Here

That Obama feller is down in the polls cuz he likes to spend all his time in all them furriner countries, like Hawaii. Americans want an American President, who warns the Iraqis they better start payin attention to there border with Pakistan!!

And why the heck should we ship anything valuable to Georgia? The Russians have invaded that place, and they'd just steal it. John McCain ain't gonna let that happen! Nosiree Bob! He'd nuke em before they got there grubby Russkie paws on it!

Finally, Athens is the capital of Greece, you nimrod! The capital of Georgia is some city whose name is all consonants and no vowels, so no good American would even want to try sayin it out loud.
