Leiberman will speak at
by MaryAnne

at Republican Convention. He has no where else to go.Can't you see Droopy Dog doing a Zell Miller? " Get out of my face!"

Re: Leiberman will speak at

A Democrat turned on by his party; he survived as an Independent; something you now call yourself. The Party has not been "inclusive", indeed the new Democrat Party under Howard Dean is quite exclusive. You will dance to the anti-war drum or they will drum you out of office, i.e., Senator Hillary R. Clinton style.

Lieberman is a distinguished member of the Senate whose experiences are 100 fold what Obama will ever achieve in the Senate. To Obama, winning a seat is not the same as occupying that seat; it's sort of a hot-plate for him and before he gets burned he is seeking a new job.

This time, for the good of America, I want him to fail and fail miserably.

Leiberman lost his Democratic primary, and then ran indy.

I chose to leave the party because of the shennigans of the DNC.And,if they do not clean house and rid themselves of Dean and Brazile,I will never vote Dem again.

But,on the other hand,I am not impressed with McCain and will not vote for him.I think he is a war hero.I also think he is a war monger, which really upsets me,as he knows what wars do.

If you think "the Party" was not a player in Leiberman's loss in primaries after serving his State for years as a Democrat and V.P. candidate, you overlook how American politics actually works. Leiberman was not the "socialists" the Democrats wanted in the Senate, i.e. unknown Barack Obama with his radical black background; typical blame or hate America first Liberalism.

I am aware of that, but also know the Democratic voters did not want Leiberman.

He should have been honest, left the party as I did,but he wanted his committees,so pretended he was still a Dem so he would not lose them.Dems kept him,as he could be the deciding vote in many cases.

With Dems, expected to pick up Senate seats,Joe is now irrelevent. I was upset when Gore selected him. Gore thought going as far from Clinton as he could would win.He was stupid.

So is Obama.

Hey, I'm not going to waste my time defending Leiberman in a post where Mary Anne has called Obama Stupid. Let's just let your comments stand on their own merrit.

lol

That may have been a little too strong on my part.Let us just say,"Obama has not shown too many smarts in the real world." He has the political world down pat.

He just does not seem ready for the job he would like to have:o) Campaigning and Leading are two very different worlds.

Don't try to rewrite history.

Lieberman betrayed the Democratic party, not vice versa. He ran as a Democrat, for the party's nomination, and when he was beaten, fair and square, by another Democrat, he ran as an independent. That betrayal marked his break with the party. He wasn't thrown out. He quit, because he disagreed with what the party's voters had chosen.

LIEberman will praise the virtues of the GOP, while dissing the Democratic presidential nominee. He will probably be nearby when McCain gives his acceptance speech, perhaps hidden behind a curtain (like the Great Oz), prompting the old guy with pertinent information, (like where St. Paul is located).

You can feel the excitement building, can’t you? Two gasbags on one stage. That's probably enough hot air to meet the energy needs for St. Paul throughout the rest of the year.

Who suggested he was “thrown out” councilor?

I suggest that the Democrat Party didn’t give much care for him after being on the losing end of the Democrat Party’s presentation of Albert “Greenjeans” Gore, so they began to court his replacement. He did the natural thing as a politician who had represented his state for many sessions of Congress, he ran as an Independent, saving the Democrats the disgrace of losing the seat to a Republican; a party that would have welcomed him as the Democrats did with Jaffords. I’m sure you see Jaffords change as simply a statement of principles, but they aren’t so different. Jaffords was no longer a Republican because he disagreed with Bush; what Republican hasn’t during the past eight years? Still, Jaffords jumped into the lion’s den and began to mate with Democrats. At least Lieberman demonstrated respect for his former party and even continued to caucus with them, but he isn’t the only Independent or Democrat that supports America. He is among the few, but not the only one.

There are a lot of Democrats that voted for war with Saddam. You against them all? Or just the ones that didn't vote to surrender once there?

Rewrite History?
by MaryAnne

Leiberman won as an Independent because Republicans went against their own poor excuse of a candidate and voted for Joe! Democrats did not want him,but Reid embraced him because they needed him to keep control.

He has voted against almost every thing the Dems have presented.Joes main concern is to keep a war going .

The People Of Connecticut.....

....obviously wanted Lieberman, he easily trounced Lamont in the general election there. I would think that what the voters want is far more important than what the Party wants, no? It may be the other way around in places like China, but not here.

I don't see how running as an Independent constitutes "betrayal", but if the Party favors a candidate that the people do not want, perhaps they deserve to be "betrayed"........
