Obama's VP
by Arkady
I've found it very interesting that in the media speculation pieces, in which they muse about who Obama will pick as VP, based on little more than who he is perceived to be friendly with and who seems to help him more in November, they generally scrupulously avoid listing Hillary Clinton as an option. That seems strange to me, since she arguably helps him more in November than any other candidate (given the very substantial portion of Clinton backers who today say they won't vote for Obama, and given how complementary her demographic and geographic appeal is with his). As far as I know, Obama hasn't publicly said he's not choosing her, and he has allowed for an unusually prominent position for her at the convention. So why is the media ruling it out entirely? Has the Obama camp told them she's not an option, on deep background? Or is it just the Clinton-bashing media doing their best to steer the choice the way they'd like to see it go?

I heard one pundit say," They were just guessing and none of them knew."He also said,"We do not know whether Obama will pick someone on Wednesday." It is all speculation.

A Time Reporter on CSpan just told a caller that,"Obama would pick Bayh." She said that because they were taking pictures in a Cafe that could be used for Commercials .A young girl, she did have the sense to say,"She was just guessing," like all the rest.

One said because Obama uses the word,"He," Tht is a sure sign he will not pick Clinton.

As Fox would say,"You decide!"

This may come as a shock to some people, but Obama is focused in on WHAT IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY...and not the (normal?!) what is 'best for me' mentality of a majority of politicians in this day and age. Of course the ideal situation would be for him to have found the magic bullet which would do both...but like most things, choices are often hard, and so he must decide where his priorities lie...with what is best for the country, or what might be perceived as the 'dream ticket'...which could just as easily become the 'Nightmare' ticket, if he chose Hillary.

I, for one, do NOT want his presidency, should he be elected, to be nothing but a continual contest of wills, and a constant effort by the VEEP to make sure that all America knows she is the REAL winner, and is running the show. That would be a total disaster in a country that has known enough of those the past 8 years, without adding and piling on even more.

And since when are the Veep qualifications based on the loser's ego, hurt feelings, following, and being the spouse of an ex-president, who did a very good job? That doesn't guarantee that such a person would be the best choice for our country.....in fact it would be like reaching for the gold ring, and actually GETTING it....the odds of that happening are slim indeed.

The Hillary crowd need to grow up...realize this isn't a perfect world, and that anyone can, and does, lose sometimes. When that happens, an adult, will suck it up, do the best they can to move on, and right the injustice of 8 years of Bush tactics that have propagated and cultivated then, one huge disaster for the history of our country.

It all comes down to just how 'little' people are, and can be, and proves they are merely more numbers in the growing membership of the 'ME Generation'!

....it'll be Senator Clinton:

His, however, seems to be a minority opinion.

Bullshit! Obama doesn't think about what's good for America; he thinks whats good for Obama. Was his change to vote FISA based on what's good for America? Was his promise to surrender in Iraq regardless of what his commanders on the ground made in the best interest of America? Even as he continues to say, "screw conditions and commanders on the ground, we'll leave Iraq"?

What ever has Obama done or said that would lead ANY sane person to believe this election isn't about Obama but about America. What? Near any example will do, but please leave out the "God damn America" parts of his glorious life.

Yes, but I concur.

"He’s got to be very concerned by the [neck-and-neck] polls and by what happened at Saddleback,” added Nader, referring to the recent candidates forum hosted by evangelist Rick Warren. “He got beat in Saddleback—big time.”
