I couldnt even ge through the recap today, 2 things, maybe 3 stopped me.

1) The mother of an olymic gold medal winner couldnt wathc him wrestle, because she couldnt get a passport. My own wife was trapped outside of the country, even though she has a passport and visa to be here. Thats how fucked up we are as a nation.

2) The Taliban killed some paratroopers of French origin. Being that they were described as 'some of the best in the world', chances are they are Legion Etranger. A bunch of years ago, they were killing Spetznaz, who aside from the guys in the IDF at that time (mid 80's), were the best soldiers in the world. Thats how fucked up the West is, to not realize that what makes them dangerous is they believe and are willing to die for their beliefs. They dont need supply chains, they dont need 3C, they dont need electronics at all (except to shoot down planes and helicopters). They believe, and unless you can make accomodation with such people, someone will die, either you or them. I suggest we talk with them.

PS I am a former paratrooper myself, spent some time doing stuff on Smokebomb hill and back in my day I would gladly have fought a duel to the death with anyone who suggested they were tougher than I.

3) The only good news I saw was that Obama might make Hillary the VP. That is the right thing to do, IMO. Let the Clintons (they are a package deal, btw) clean up the mess and leave Obama for the spiritual healing of our battered nation

Just what is it that you think THE CLINTONS can do to clean up the mess? Hillary wants more wars. What mess, exactly, will that be cleaning up? Keep our troops over there, let the illegals get our Social Security and let us support a family of 3 to 12 or more after they drop their anchor babies? Keep the borders wide open so any terrorist can just walk on in? Yeah, sure.

I was a soldier. I am willing and was willing to die for my beliefs. Moreover, due to being both Airborne and Infantry, I was demonstrably facile with all the skills necessary to kill as well.

I am ashamed that I cannot say to someone, that my nation does not torture. That anyone else does, is immaterial. I have no control and no claim to actions of others, just my own. I would not fight, die nor kill for the nation of my birth as it stands now.

Lets turn that on its head for a moment. If those people are willing to fight and kill for what they believe, we need to respect that and find a way to understand what they believe and accomodate that, or blood will be shed. We can either fight and lose (despite the valor of the brothers and sisters of mine that yet serve), or understand, make peace and win.

And to the other guy, Bill (and Hillary) took a huge recession and turned it into the biggest economic boom we have had, because Bill understands that doing the right thing is not the same as being right.
