Georgia favoritism, the real reason.
by Philadelphia Steve
-1 Reply

The real reason is that a paid lobbyist for Georgia is part of the John McCain campaign staff. As a result NeoConservatives and FoxNews are cheering them on. And the rest of the media reporters are too lazy or intimidated to analyze the situation beyond what color tie John McCain is wearing on ay particular day.

The author wasn't talking about boosterism here in the States, they were talking about it coming from people who've actually been there.

Why don't you address the fact that John McCain's 'foreign policy advisor' has worked for the Georgian government for 4 years and recently signed a contract with that government for $290,000. Randy Scheunemann has Israeli citizenship like so many of the neo cons. Their loyalty to America runs through Tel Aviv and they always put Israel's interests first. I don't know how Israel's interests are served in this fiasco but I'm pretty sure someone knows or thinks they know exactly what they are. This is not about boosterism it's about the Georgian army attacking South Ossetia and murdering unarmed civilians. If you can't understand that something's lacking in your world view.

The problem with America is that corruption and deceit are the norm. Anyone who actually wants to serve the public interest is treated as a dangerous radical and either discredited by character assassination the way both the Clintons have been, (Bill being the easier target but that didn't stop some idiots from burning Hillary Clinton in effigy for trying to introduce some reasonable kind of health care system) or literally assassinated the way Martin Luther King and the Kennedys were. The American system is a steaming pile of manure and the neo cons are dung beetles who are at the top of dung heap (for the moment). It's impossible to talk about corruption in America because the entire system is corrupt from the top down. If you discuss corruption as a concept it refers to a basically sound system (not perfect, none of them are) in which a person or a group of people are breaking the law, taking bribes etc. In America you can't even talk about corruption in any meaningful way because every public institution- health, science, education, the court system, armed services, the Department of Justice, the FBI, the intelligence services, the police force, infrastructure, Wall Street and even the banking system are corrupt. I see they're now trying to blame the mess America's economy is in on Alan Greenspan. I know the game of blame the Jew is a reflex for some people (while I prefer to blame any person only if they are actually corrupt and deceitful) but no one in the media refers to the fact that the CIA smuggles weapons out of America and smuggles drugs back in or that the laundering of drug money is a trillion dollar a year economy in America: so huge, in fact, that if they stopped laundering the money America's mutual funds would collapse. Very Large corporations are also involved in this. This rotteness at the core has now infected everything. It's no use picking at threads and saying 'But this bit's all right' the whole putrid house of cards needs to come down. You can take it down through political action and citizen activism or you can watch it collapse under the weight of it's own decay. Up to you. Re-electing the far right criminals you presently have in government is not a viable political choice given the urgency of your situation. What's happened with Georgia, the anthrax letters and so many other things is the canary singing its heart out in the mine. Blocking your ears is not a wise response.

Actually, the REAL reason Americans have a fondness for Georgia in their conflict with Russia is much simpler than all this diatribe on the Fray. The average American Democratic Party voter in California or Illinois thinks the Russians invaded OUR Georgia, the one with Atlanta in it.

They did? Our government must act quickly then, as Russia's real prize would be Savannah, if history is any indicator. : - o
