I would prefer to bomb Iran and take Irans oil. Those pissants religious fanatics derserve to be blown back to their middle ages fantasyland. But if not, drilling is a good option whether it lowers gas prices or not.Since it will be at least a start toward sticking it to the Arabs. I think the threat of an alternative source of oil will make them lower prices. The threat of our not needing so much of their oil will have a salutory effect on prices. Again bombing Iran is my first option,as by name says,it's time to revenge them for taking our people hostage.
