When my kids were little, I used to tell them I was a member of the 1983 Summer Olympics bobsled team.

They didn't believe me...

I saw a story yesterday on ESPN about the Brazilian marathoner who was in the lead with 4 miles to go and was accosted by some English religious nut. It totally goofed-up his rhythm and he ended-up finishing 3rd.

And the best part? Despite not winning he was very thankful and proud of that bronze medal...

being an olympian is a pretty exclusive club in itself

winning a medal even more so

im so proud of every one of them i could bust

and especially for our american team

they have done an outstanding job!

his or her pride at winning a bronze, than I do listening to the angst of one who was "going for the gold" and had to "settle" for a silver. In past Olympics, some of the Americans have been a little to prone to the latter. I'm not seeing that this time around though - not at all and not once.

In fact...the only Beijing Olympian thus far, who's pushed my buttons, has been that Jamaican jackass who showboated his way to a win in the men's 100m dash.

He did do that, but good grief that guy can run!

The Olympics are never held in an odd-numbered year and there's certainly no bobsledding in summer...
