Birth Control Ruining Love Life? C'mon!
by Terry C - Obama 08

I would think that the fear of getting pregnant every time you had sex would ruin your love life.

Why are people trying to drag women back to the bad old days?

because people want to believe that their sexism is just a sublime expression of their human nature and deny that we came from chimps at the same time.

Why are they trying to bring back "the bad old days", you ask? I don't think it is a question of bringing them back, but trying to figure out why Western women have collectively become barren and Western folks are dying out -- voluntarily - across the world.

According to population studies, Mexican women who settle in the various Mexican colonies across the USA have actually increased their birth rate in the last ten years, while Western womens's birth rate has continued its 40 year slide. Mexicans and other third world Hispanics don't seem to have the fear of children that Western women do. Perhaps, as this research suggests, it is changes in smell that skews sexual desire in a more unfit direction. Who knows?

If we could find out what was causing it, we could find out a solution while there was still a way to change things before my people and culture die out.

I hear what you're saying, but don't think it's smell, just values. A long time ago they asked Germans if they'd rather have another child or a new Mercedes, and most said the car. If that's your value system, it's no wonder there aren't more kids.

If the West has become too affluent to reproduce, eventually they'll be replaced by those who haven't, and this too is o.k.

Gee, maybe it has something to do with Western women going to college and entering the work force about 40 years ago? Seems pretty obvious to me.

Also, many Hispanics are Catholic and they listen when the pope tells them not to use condoms.

Fear of God > fear of children? Could be.

Kids are expensive and a lot of work. When women have access to education and have more career choices than "wife and mother", they often choose to have a small number of kids, if any. I don't think this is a great mystery.

Ah, but if you study educated Mexican women with a lot of career options, you'll notice that on average they too don't have that many children.

How hysterical. I don't think there is any risk of your "people" or your "culture" dying out.

Why are "Mexicans and other third world Hispanics" not westerners? Or are you really saying Western == Anglo?

BigBill,

Your people and culture have already died out. You just haven't figured that out yet.

Perhaps its that they've seen their standard of living actually rise. Despite what Republican apologists say, for most of the rest of us, there has actually been a decline in the standard of living since the baby boom ended. This has been masked by the rise of a second income but we are rapidly reaching the point where a third income will be needed!

Polygamy is likely the answer. Not like in the Mormon sects but more and more, women are really only satisfied with a minority of men. They'll just need to share. The advantage will be the extra level of support that makes child rearing easier.
