Totally unrelated to anything we're discussing
by judy1

Anyone out there been to New Hampshire? My hubby and I are contemplating a job offer out there. I was just hoping if anyone's been there that they could give me an idea of what its like. I've done a little research, it seems like a nice place, no income tax or sales tax...I kind of like that, but I expect their property taxes are pretty high. Anyone?

Brrrrr..... too cold for me. :)

Hope you find the info you need. And if you do go, hope it works out very well for the both of you.

Beautiful state in the summer, pretty cold

in winter. People are very, very liberal, well-educated New England types..

Where are you moving from?

thanks. If we do it will be one of the "life changing" moves I think, but the daughter is grown and moved to another state, hubby and I might be ready for an adventure. It could be interesting, as there are many more conservatives there than here in Oregon.

The only thing I would say is that you will find things as good as your own outlook on them. You take yourself with you if you move. Seems to me things would be fine.

Oregon. But remember New Hampshire is still considered a "red" state.

But get used to libertarians, the state is briming with them since the free state project.....

Thanks for the info. Libertarians don't bother me, I agree with them on lots of issues.

I've only been to New Hampshire once........a wine run when I visited my friend in Boston. It was beautiful.

But I'd say go for it............ it's adventuresome to move someplace new. I've done that many times in my life and got to live in places like Italy, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico because I wasn't afraid to pick up and go.

I don't know where you are now......... but if the job is good and it won't be a pay cut....... go for it!!!

well, it is more an issue of whether I want to go thru the hassle of trying to sell our house here in Oregon, or try to find a renter to offset the mortgage payment. Houses aren't selling here right now. We could pay for two houses for a while, but it then eats into retirment income potential five years down the road. Still, I've been here 30 years, a change might be good.

Look into it...... the selling of the house........ houses might not sell really easily, but they still sell if the price is right.

We left Denver right at the beginning of the housing flattening and took a little loss.

But if you haven't ever lived on the eastern seaboard..... it might be an interesting change. I do hate to say this here (and don't wish to offend anyone), but the people in Oregon (the PNW in general) are nicer than the people in New England. They are more open in the PNW generally. So keep that in mind. I've lived both places and infinitely preferred the PNW to New England.
