I'M A FORMER DEMOCRAT - CAN SPELL - NO OBAMA FOR ME
by Lulubelle22

I see a lot of the rude Obama supporters on here who are giving people a hard time when they say they will NOT be voting for Obama.

I would like the say that we as a whole are sick and tired of the thugs who are pro-Obama who go around the net and attack everybody who is against Obama. The more you attack, the more determined we are to elect John McCain for president.

It is funny that the pundits keep saying that Obama is ahead in the polls. Yet McCain was beating Obama by about 9 points on THAT poll. Here they were saying Obama was ahead in the polls and he was clearly behind in their own poll.

No mention is made of that. They biased news media is still trying to shove the liar Obama down our throats.

It is not going to happen and no, we will not come home like good little sheep. We have minds of our own and we do not like Obama and his subversive, anti-American flags.

I want a President who salutes my flag. How about you?

Question: Why do you consider yourself a Democrat if flag-saluting is such a high-priority value for you? The Republican party specializes in these vapid, empty gestures while simultaneously destroying the actual country and Constitution which the flag represents. Feel free to join them, unless in fact you are trying to solicit some anonymous discussion-board respect & love from Obama supporters. Good luck with that, and also with your deep-seated anger issues.

Former democrat, my ass. Nice try, though ;)

The flag. The flag. The flag.

So sick of hearing about the flag, which is nothing but a goddamn symbol. It's a lovely symbol at that, but putting it front and center is just moony and infantile.

I can't stand it when people like you say that anyone ever "died for our flag". No one ever died for a piece of cloth. Why don't you start thinking a little less about the symbol and more about what that symbol represents?

Like the constitution, which has been shredded by 8 years of Republican malfeasance. Like your country, which is facing the highest deficit, the weakest dollar, the most eroded public sphere and the coarsest political culture it has ever seen.

But it's all about the flag, and the lapel pin. Like so many others, your mind has become a tv re-run. Franklin said we were given "a democracy, if we can keep it". With the state of the electorate we've got now, the bullshit we focus on and the facts we ignore, I wouldn't give us more than 30 years.

What Franklin Actually Said...
by LeRoy_Was_Here

D. Travers: Franklin said we were given "a democracy, if we can keep it".

LeRoy: Uh, actually, what Franklin said was that we were given "a republic, if you can keep it."

Doesn't mean Franklin would be a Republican if he were around today. He probably wouldn't be. The ironic thing about American politics today is that the Republican Party is probably the single greatest threat to the Republic.

Thanks for the correction, LeRoy. I should have that line right because it's all I can think about when I spend time watching the pundits or reading these boards.
