Troops are supporting Obama over McCain!
by Johnclyde
Who could blame them?
By 6 to 1 in terms of their dollars, by the way.
by spreadsheet
That's odd. In a more rational media world, some reporter would query McPOW on that one.

they only counted donations of $200. on up.

have the grunts been giving that much or is it the officer corps?

Julie, I would say it is the officer corps. Most grunts don't have that kind of money--maybe the $25-$50 range.

Deployed troops giving more to Obama then McCain...the Deployed and NonDeployed What difference does it make if it's officer corp or the grunts??

Pat, as you well know, money is important in a campaign but that money must be converted to votes if it is to do any good. Votes follow the money, therefore I had rather get $50 each from four "grunts" than $200 from one officer.

As a former "grunt," I would say that they also would go 6 to 1 (or better) for Obama.

I have contact with many soldiers on AD as well as those who are recuperating from their wounds and trauma. Politics are discussed with vigor on the wards and in the training center and by far the majority of these young (and not so young) people have more positive comments about Senator Obama than for Senator McCain. This includes all ranks, races, ages and genders. The officer ranks are as vocal about the Middle East misadventure as the enlisted.
