The sappiness of the NBC coverage is usually pretty bad.

But this year, I'm watching the olympics in Japan. So now I'm being subject to the sacchrine coverage focused on another country.

The American relay finish was awesome and got played a few times. But Kitajima's gold winning the 100m breaststroke with a new world record has been played endlessly....since it happened I've probably seen it over a hundred times. It's on that much.

And it was infuriating that they spent tons of time discussing, lamenting, and replaying Japan's lackluster judo performances instead of showing one of the dozen live events they could have opted to broadcast instead.

I've been twittering the olympics too, if anyone is interested in how the olympics are playing in Japan.
