Some years ago, I met Isaac Hayes. He did not talk of Thetans. He was a warm, personable human being. I honor his choice to follow the path of Scientology while he was alive. However, the details outlined in this article are just a sideline in my eyes. I don't think Scientology had even come into existence when he wrote "Soul Man", the salad-maker made popular by Sam and Dave. Hayes' soul did not come from Scientology. It is his singular eminence.
