Messy Poll!
by MessyONE
+1 Reply
I have to dash out the door in a moment for a much-needed haircut. I knew it was time when The Boy started lifting my bangs to see my eyes....and said it reminded him of the sheepdog of Wile E. Coyote fame.

However, I'm going to throw this out because I think that there are a whole bunch of people who have thought about it. I know I have.

Here goes:

If you could go back to school and learn anything you wanted to, what would it be?

Let's assume that all of your expenses and tuition are paid for, so that you have no money worries, and add to it that whatever you do, it doesn't have to be career oriented at all. That is, you don't have to worry about getting a job afterwards...

More intensive specialised geology. Not the basic one year stuff I took. Spent the weekend out in the desert again with out telescopes after I got the Benz washed. I know the basics but the stuff I see needs the specifics. I am not interested in the silver or gold (anything significant is already claimed) but Nevada is the more geologically diverse and mineralised state in the U.S. (so all the geologists I meet out there say). It actually makes sense with all the Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics I have taken up to this point.

I'd take more math. Seriously. I didn't know I was good at it until I took my GREs.

I would either go to learn more about meteorology since I used to keep a weather log as a kid growing up (I would try to predict the weather by checking the skies everyday when I woke up for school and I was pretty good) or go to school to learn more about video production since I like video taping stuff.

Law. Specifically, I would become as expert as I could on Constitutional Law.

Advanced automotives & shop.

I took all the voc. ed classes in high school, loved them, woodshop, general auto, horticulture, welding, etc. I was special ed & the vocational classes taught me way more then the academic classes.

Actually, I did that about 20 years ago, and went into engineering support. After working in the field awhile, I was glad I hadn't become a full-blown engineer, because of a number of reasons. When I went back a 3rd time, they made us all take tests to see what we were emotionally suited for, and I'm already in it!

Ooh! Marine Biology! Yeah - that, too.

I got a thing for cephalopods. :-)

Architectural design. It was my second choice of majors at college. Didn't pick it. Kicking myself.

I could've been a pro with all the time I spent beating other things.

I would have to go back and get my engineering degree (electrical). I didn't have the math background the first time and settled for Computer Science instead, but I've always wondered.

Also, money was a big problem the first time so it took me several (ok many) years longer than it should have to finish my BS. And I was tired of college by then so I never went back for the more advanced degrees.

I did go back and now I'm learning about ultra-relativitistic heavy ion collisions. It's pretty cool.

I'll probably audit some more history courses while I'm here, if i can ever find the time.

What the hell?

Stupid me thought you were talking about high school. Look at all you with your higher education! (way more smarts & ambition then me)
