I don't think it's necessarily numb and ignorant so much as de-sensitized. We've been exposed to a new kinf od politicians who don't reside on shiy pedestals/ We've come to epect corruption in government, corruption within congress, a growing distrust of government and a loss os "statesmen" we used to have. That's what's sad.

Thanks, Cherokee. That's kind of you. IMHO, tell the first lie and the next becomes easier and with each lie, it becomes easier and easier. The conscience is stilled. Same with killing. The first time is difficult, the second not so much and opn and on--no remorse.

Know what, Cherokee? I don't like today's society at all, despite all its new technologies and contraptions. I remember a time when a person's word was their bond. I remember a time when honesty and integrity mattered above all else. I remember when values, standards and mores were not just talked about--they were LIVED daily.

How and when we will ever repair the damage?

Maybe instead of E pluribus unum they should put numb and ignorant in the money. It would be more honest.

Monuments, like those in Washington, are monuments to idols and stupidity. I've never literally been to the WALL, but you will find my cousins and friends named thereon. As for the dead, they know nothing, they are in a deep sleep without dreams stretched out all over this land and that. I feel, from my life experience, that each of those men who died for slogans perpetrated my WALL STREET and CORRUPT POLITICIANS died because they were truly unaware of what their government was doing to them.

If you recall, they didn't even want to erect a monument to Veterans of the Viet Nam conflict. Veterans like myself had already burned every item connecting us to our government but that was not enough, we had to even fight to go back to work! So corrupt was the transition that veterans everywhere were bought off with school and jobs way beneath their capacity. Imagine, a veteran returning home, then being sent to a school that up front told the disabled veteran he could never pass without an FAA physical. What stupid morons worked in those places sending veterans to schools that would never let them graduate--psychiatrists!

No, I recall the day my diploma was withheld because I couldn't pass a Class B FAA physical, however, the instructor sent me on solos and passed me, one of the requirements of the school I attended. Today, I still receive alumni letters and requests for donations which I toss in the trash. Somehow in their mind I'm an alumni while they still hold one of my diplomas, and what did the Veteran's Administration want to do--send me yet to another school!

I was only one of thousands that were treated this way and didn't stay around to play stink fingers with them. I can- celled all my benefits and for twenty more years built my own company burying the hatchet deep into the government's bag of tricks.

No, I sleep well at night. I walk around nude and water my plants in the early night hours. I'm a throw back worse than any character you see in a movie and have a tendency to still say what I have on my mind to whomever, whenever! They may get embarrassed, but what do I care.

We have become a society that pays our employees (politicians) to lie to us, and for the most part refuse to hold them accountable for their actions. This society will condemn our “public servants” for a blow job, or extra-marital affair but when they lie to us costing us the respect of the world, and the lives of our young society as a whole sets back and whines refusing to take any action to change the situation. We have to face it my friend, we are getting old and the new breed have not learned the lessons of the history we lived through.
