But that is a justifiable reason to vote for John McCain (in Conservatives' minds). When you are a Conservative, hate is an entity all to itself. The Republican Party, ever since Richard Nixon's Silent Majority campaign and Southern Strategy, has made Hate a cornerstone of its very existence. From Jesse Helms, to Swiftboating, to Ann Coulter: Hate is the glue that holds Conservatives together. Otherwise they would tear each otehr apart based on individual differences.
That is why Mitt Romney could not be a Presidential candidate: He does not project sufficient hate from his persona. Rudi Guilianai certainly exuded sufficient Hate, which is why he was a front runner so long. The Hate and Contempt that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney show toward anyone who is not subservient to them positively glows.
Now John McCain, guided by Karl Rove’s disciples, is following in those footsteps. And Conservatives everywhere will follow suit and echo the hate (despite some misgivings during this initial week that will fade to oblivion by the Convention).
If you do not Hate, you cannot be a Republican or a Conservative. It is that simple.
