I'll repost my response to your comment: poor neighborhoods also suffer from a lack of real grocery stores, as opposed to convenience stores, which don't sell fresh produce or other nutritious foods. At your typical urban convenience store, one is lucky if there is anything but Wonder Bread and boxed macaroni and cheese.

Yeah, that's why they're poor, they spend all their money on booze, lottery tickets, strip clubs, and fast food! If they could only save money instead of spending it on such stupid things they'd be rich!
