Use to be an EMT
by emtira

I was and EMT about 6 years ago and this is why I quit. About 90% of the 911 calls were bogus. I had people call 911 for toothaches or the flu.

People need to remember that 911 and the E.R. are for life threatening emergencies only. Don't call 911 because your sick and expect emergency personnel to drive code to your home risking the lives of themselves as well as people driving in the streets to give you a ride.

Just tonight we had a girl call 911 because she was in a neighboring town, and needed to pick up her daughter in our town (we later found out). She called 911 claiming abdominal pain, got here and got a room. The nurse went in to do vitals, and she asked how long her stay would be. When the nurse told her it could be a couple of hours depending on what tests the doctor ordered, she promptly left. She simply wanted a ride! Thanks welfare!! We should be charging these people at least SOME sort of co-pay!! If some of these people had to choose between $5.00 for a visit or $5.00 for cigarettes, we would have less idiots to deal with!!!!

I agree with you! Stuff like that use to happen all the time to my partner and I. I had a woman say send her a bill she isn't going to pay it just like the other ones. Tax payers foot the bill for the crap. I'm sure you have frequent flyers too.
