Keeping My Landline
by Herbie2

I am keeping my landline for four reasons:

1. I have a fax machine connected to it that requires this service.

2. My conversations are more secure and less accessible to prying ears.

3. My children are scattered around the continent, and my landline based long distance plan (while grandfathered) is significantly better than any plan I can get from a cell provider.

4. I actually do have one of those old rotary dial telephones in my personal "museum of ancient technology" and it still works. Remember the power outage of 2004 when most of eastern North America was without power for several days, and there was no way of charging up cell and hand-held devices?? I just plugged in my old rotary telephone and had instant access with the outside world!!
