The Jindal thing was goofy anyway--he was considered only because his skin is dark and there's no black Pugs.

Back to the drawing board for Grandpa...

Jindal said Wednesday he will not be McCain's VP.

(CNN) - Has Bobby Jindal ruled out being John McCain's running mate?

One day after it was revealed the presumptive Republican presidential candidate was slated to hold a closed-door meeting with the 37-year old governor, Jindal told Fox News there is no way he will fill the bottom half of the GOP presidential ticket.

CNN's Political Market: Jindal's stock goes down

"I'm not going to be the vice presidential nominee or vice president," Jindal said. "I'm going to help Senator McCain get elected, as governor of Louisiana."

Jindal is young with too much career left to risk it on McCain. If McCain doesn't win, Jindal is tainted with the loss. If McCain were to luck into the White House, it's still a good decision since there are only downsides to the entire proposal.
McCong may pull the rabbit outta the hat tomorrow, eh?

Is McCain Planning a Thursday Surprise?

By Taegan Goddard | July 23, 2008 9:16 PM | Permalink | Comments (2)

Sen. Barack Obama's planned speech in Berlin is expected to lead the political news on Thursday, but there are some indications Sen. John McCain's campaign might be planning a surprise announcement.

First, he cancels his press availability on Wednesday.

Then, he cancels a previously unannounced trip to an off-shore oil rig in Louisiana.

And now he abruptly changes his schedule to appear in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday. The press wasn't told until the campaign plane was on the tarmac.

Will McCain pick his running mate on Thursday?

Could it be former Rep. Rob Portman (R-OH)? Or perhaps it's former Rep. John Kasich (R-OH)?
