Good ol Days
by unrbug

I recently found a pay stub from Al for June 21,1969. We had been married 4 years. He worked in a grocery store, produce manager I believe. He earned $2.95 an hour. Gross pay $118 Net pay was $85.27 after these deductions.

$2.95 pension

$3.00 bonds

Taxes $16.74 FICA $566 State $4.38

A year later I was a stay at home Mom. We watched our pennies . Things are all relevent. In a way things were very good. We appreciated what we had and we did not expect much in the way of extras.

My younger daughter said we taught her well about money where as her nusband was not taught to respect the value of living with in his means. I am not sure what determines attitude about money but a parents teaching and experiences wouldn't hurt I am sure...

I assume the $118 was per week, which if so was not too bad a salary at that time.

And I assume the FICA was $5.55, not $556.

Money was getting "tight" around that time. I was still paying 39 cents per gallon/gas.

The mortgage payment for us for a three bedroom house, with family room, double car garage, and big back yard was $120 to $130 per month.

We were not called "stay at home moms" back then, we were "just a housewife."

Thanks for the corrections. Everything is relevant.

Wendy says her marriage is good and Keith is learning. My older daughter grew up in the same household. She works hard and spends for horses and career- horses. She does not have money for a rainy day but she does pay for her insurance.

Very clever there; correcting yourself.

Do you really thnk that we are the same? What an honor to be thought of as that way.

If being known as a liar and a lunatic are an honor; then you are Ms. America.

Are you saying the commander In chief represents a liar and a lunatic. Now we are getting on the same wave length. Good thing there are just a few more months.

I want to know why a certain poster wrongfully gave me all the credit for driving off Pissandmoandaddy?

I may have had a hand in that, but I was by no means the lone ranger in that regard.

Is this just venom or fading judgement on that poster's part? Especially after his Scott McClellan brain fart about Bush recently using cocaine.

Unebug, no matter which one of these clowns is elected, I'd say it's safe money, in ten years people will look back to the Bush years with nostalgia.

Trust me climate apocalypse would be letting humanity off easy Unebug.

I'd love to see the Democrats try to implement their most radical economic agenda.

Make no mistake, it is you and your flock that are obstructing sane energy policy.

The only way you people get away with it, is if Americans truly are that fucking stupid!

Unebug, I don't think anybody on this board ever thought you and I are the same person. They were just having a bit of fun, which they thought was at our expense.

Neither you nor I thought the thing up, though we are being blamed by some. I myself had a lot of fun with all those DrFran threads that took a lot of work on the part of some person or persons. LOL! Yeah, real ego booster. And the tags are still there for me to enjoy every time I come on here!!! Wow!!! Thank you, my silent PR person!!!

However, if there are those who really do think you and I are the same person, they are 6 or 7 bricks short of full load, or as we said decades ago the elevator does not go to the top, or as I now observe----the escalator is not moving!

Oh, you had some people wondering. I myself was on the fence.

I think I took the lead, and was the first to declare authenticity.

Any brownie points?
