McCain's Whopper o' the Day!

The "winner" for 7/22/08 is an easy choice...

Couric: Senator McCain, Sen. Obama says, while the increased number of U.S. troops contributed to increased security in Iraq, he also credits the Sunni awakening and the Shiite government going after militias. And says that there might have been improved security even without the surge. What's your response to that?

McCain: I don't know how you respond to something that is such a false depiction of what actually happened. Colonel McFarlane (phonetic) was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that's just a matter of history.

Of course, the Anbar Awakening preceded the surge by many months.

And McCain gets "Pug bonus points" for saying that Obama made a false statement as he was telling his own gigantic whopper.

Whadda Pug!

130,000 men couldn't have provided enough to protect that Sheikh....but that extra 20-30,000 troops in the theater were able to cover his ass PRONTO!

LOL

Not to mention the obvious misstatement of the chronology there....(shaking head)

By SEVERAL months and the extra protection of sheiks was only able to be implemented because the surge was on its way. Spin it any way you want but the fact of the matter is the surge worked and the troops are coming home as winners. I know that disappoints you hopeheads but you'll just have to learn to live with it...

Do you REALLY think the military makes NO move until all the resources are in place? Well it's CLEAR you never served...

The surge was not even being discussed when the Anbar Awakening took place. They were separated by months, and McCain lied about the chronology--putting it exactly backwards

That's the case no matter how much of your typical up-is-down Pug gyrations you want to engage in.

So just the mere presence of guys on the tarmac at Ft. Benning, Georgia....gave protection to those sheiks!?!?!?!

Wow....then the whole damn army could have stayed home and we could have overthrown Saddam, huh???

Nobody's coming home a winner unless you count "coming home" itself as winning. We have lost this misguided effort, and there is no way to win it at this point.

You'll have to live with the fact that you supported an effort that killed over 4,000 of our soliders and God knows how many Iraquis. You have blood on your hands; don't be telling me what I have to live with, pig.

Do you really think

..I take you seriously at all?

Not anymore, dude, not anymore...

A gem, too:

the fact of the matter is the surge worked and the troops are coming home as winners

..straight from George Bush's ass to your keyboard, as it were...:)
