Rasmussen now has Obama up in Florida and a slew of House seats are in play

Movement for Obama in the Sunshine State:
Barack Obama has caught up to John McCain in Florida. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Obama with a statistically insignificant one-point advantage over his rival, 46% to 45%. When “leaners” are included, the Democrat leads 49% to 47%.

Over the past six months, McCain has maintained leads ranging from seven to sixteen percentage points. Last month, McCain led 48% to 41% in the Sunshine State.

A big push for Obama this month in Florida comes from unaffiliated voters. Last month, he had just a three-point lead in this demographic. This month, he leads by twenty-three.
That's quite a jump.

Keep in mind, Democratic registration has been surging in the Sunshine State. Just two weeks ago, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on a "huge swing" to Democrats in voter registration:
An escalating number of voters registering as Democrats is providing evidence that the 2008 election could produce a wave of support for Barack Obama — and trigger a decades-long shift of party allegiance that could affect elections for a generation.

The numbers are ominous for Republicans: Through May, Democratic voter registration in Broward County was up 6.7 percent. Republican registrations grew just 3 percent while independents rose 2.8 percent.

Democrats have posted even greater gains statewide, up 106,508 voters from January through May, compared with 16,686 for the Republicans.
There are also a slew of competitive House races in Florida this year, which should also help bolster Democratic turnout. For years, there was an unwritten rule among the Florida delegation that the opposing party wouldn't challenge incumbents. Those days are over. By my count, there are eight GOP held seat that are very interesting in Florida. We'll spend more time on these races over the next couple weeks, but keep an eye on:

Florida 8: August 26 primary winner v. incumbent Republic Ric Keller;

Florida 9: Democrat John Dicks v. incumbent Republican Gus Bilirakis;

Florida 12: Democrat Doug Tudor v. incumbent Republican Adam Putnam; (Putnam is the third ranking Republican in the House.)

Florida 13: Rematch between Democrat Christine Jennings and incumbent Republican Vern Buchanan;

Florida 18: Democrat Annette Taddeo v. incumbent Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen; (Everyone who reads AMERICAblog knows we love Annette.)

Florida 21: Democrat Raul Martinez v. incumbent Republican Lincoln Diaz-Balart;

Florida 24: Democrat Susan Kosmas v. incumbent Republican Tom Feeney;

Florida 25: Democrat Joe Garcia v. incumbent Republican Mario Diaz-Balart;

sgt's favorite, Rassie, strikes again. Small sample size, one day, not dependable.

I prefer a broader spread:

You can't quote Rasmussen....

Only Sarge is supposed to quote Rasmussen when it shows McCain "doing better"!

Delete this post at once, that's an order, soldier!

Excellent mook!

Our dude is looking so good on his overseas jaunt, that Ben Stein was rendered speechless yesterday on CNN dammit! ;)

....to McCong? I did not know that;)

Ha!........yeah I know Razzy is often disputed but after all that's what we come here for is to do "disputes", no?

...asked you a question a few weeks ago about Korean currency & should my son (who is going to Korea to attend the U of Seoul before moving on to graduate skool;)

....should Josh switch his funds all over to the "won" now to avoid any devalutation issues that may be gurgling below the surface or is he "fine" switching his cash when he gets there in about two weeks?

mook: curious proud papa';)

Hmmm...guess Sargie can deal witrh it or NOT;)

Wow, McSame losing Florida, huh?
by Horus
Hurts worse than Obama's alleged problems in Ohio, I'd say. Especially since the latter are the product of contradictory polls...
awwww....wanna cookie "Sarge"?

.Ha!...those rat bastards @ Razzy are lying again, eh?:)
LOL

Yes, being ahead in the polls means you're going to lose, that's almost always true, right, "Sarge?"

Any resolution of the contradictory Ohio polls yet, BTW?

Dollar seems to be strengthening, so another two weeks may not hurt. Currency exchange is a crapshoot, day to day. Never been in SK but a lot of Asian countries accept Dollars and have black markets with better exchange rates than the banks and their conversion costs and bumps. He should be able to contact someone at university for advice.

....there was something in the news about Korean currency a couple weeks ago, sorta got that parental worry thing going, hopefully about nothing damn it

....figure you are the guy to ask about theze thingz, not trying to put you on the spot Kemu Sabe...just have a puzzeling trust of you for your basic no frills honesty damn it;)

...Josh chose to do an exchange thing in Korea after looking @ various other locations, wants to do some traveling before student loan payments start kicking in...this is a perfect opportunity, his tuition remains the same as if he were attending here in the states

.Josh is a "non traditional" student, will be 29 next year, his girlfriend (one of his former professors, she's mid 30s ;) works part time for an airline & plans to fly over to see him during break. They plan on touring Asia maybe skip over to Europe, Australia> The prof can fly with one friend basically free of charge

Ha!.......sorry for the "life story" kick Kemu Sabe...now lets get back to kicking ass and naming names damn it;)

"Ha!.......sorry for the "life story" kick Kemu Sabe...now lets get back to kicking ass and naming names damn it;)"

My pleasure. Best of luck to Josh and hope things are well for him. Sounds like he has a solid plan and a girlfriend with resources, so he shows good judgement. Travel and exposure to different cultures is good and he's smart enough to do it without the natives shooting at him :)

.....gotta admit Korea wouldn't be my first choice....guess I'm too much of a stick in the mud to wanna live in a metro area of 14 million people who don't necessarily speak english

....the kid is solid now, wasn't always that way....Josh basically grew up in the Seattle Tacoma area, lottsa "stuff" to get into & plenty 'o "pals" to get into it with....grades & attendance were up & down, switched schools almost every year from middle school on, finally did a GED then played around with community college, dropped in & out, hadda couple o' near misses with the law,.....played his mother for lottsa stuff

...then when Josh moved back out here to the sticks four years ago it was like someone flipped a switch....he ramped right up to straight "A"s, holds down a difficult job, pays all of his bills ON TIME basically cut out all the bullshit & "grew up".......whew!

....I'm not overtly religious...but mook definitely thanks gawd for turning his kid around damn it;)
