milk

Dairymen can now capture the methane gas to create enough electricity to run their own dairy and have electricity left over which could be sold to help provide you with cheaper energy. In areas where there are many dairies this could eleminate the building of new nuclear and hydroelectric plants.....sounds pretty green to me. It also hugely decreases the methane gas in the atmosphere. The problem is the initial cost for the dairyman is very high and the electric companies refuse to buy the electricity to help offset that cost.

Cow butt gas caputure? Capturing methane from manure lagoons? Sounds like pie-in-the-sky BS to me.

Dairy farms are filthy, disgusting things. Go visit one some time. You'll never drink milk again.

How many farms have you actually visited? And by "visit", do you mean actually gone to, or just driven by?

My family's dairy farm is gorgeous. Every single dairy farmer I know (and I'm quite certain I know a lot more than you) takes fantastic care of their animals and takes great pride in their farms. Of course, there are some who don't, but those are few and far between. Don't take the exception to the rule and try to use it to make a false generalization of dairy farms.

If you saw how most things were made, you wouldn't like it.

Get over it.

AP hit it right on the head. Americans are so used to getting their food in clean styrene and celophane packs, they delude themselves into believing the food emerged from some pristine source.

Milk is Pasteurized for a reason.
