Is it Really a Close Race?Michael Grunwald: "The media will try to preserve the illusion of a toss-up; you'll keep seeing 'Obama Leads, But Voters Have Concerns' headlines. But when Democrats are winning blood-red congressional districts in Mississippi and Louisiana, when the Republican president is down to 28 percent, when the economy is tanking and world affairs keep breaking Obama's way, it shouldn't be heresy to recognize that McCain needs an improbable series of breaks. Analysts get paid to analyze, and cable news has airtime to fill, so pundits have an incentive to make politics seem complicated. In the end, though, it's usually pretty simple."

Polls I'm seeing are showing a close race and what I hear on the ground is a major Bradley Effect. Obama may win the popular vote by taking 100% of the vote in California and Kerrygon, but he won't do so well in the heartland.

Why does everything you post have sexual connotations?

what I hear "on the ground"

...is a lotta life long republicans saying they either intend to skip the vote or vote for BHO....no shit

....this is no doubt not a trackable national "trend" just mooks anecdotal view. SD is a small potato's state & will probably go republican as usual. But it is almost shocking to hear small town crackers who usually just vote GOP & forget about it indicate their total disgust with both the current prez and his wouldbe GOP successor

...gas prices kill people out here on the flatlands where wages are low & distance to work can be either a couple of blocks or 50-60 miles down the road. Farm & ranch operations are going down the hardest as you can imagine.

IMO gas price has done FAR more to wake sleepy voters than the 4000 odd deaths in Iraq (@ least out here in the boondocks)....guess that may partially explain why we are seeing prices creep down for the time being, eh?

I think BHO can win....guess we'll see what happens damn it;)

reply to the thread topic or suck my cock pookie;)

I've voted solidly Democrat for years

I know more moderate democrats and Independents that are

voting McCain than conservatives voting Obama.

you're delusional, but right the first time.

can we afford not to win?

....democrats better decide they if they wanna win ugly or lose "beautiful" IMO.........dems dumping on HRC using up residual GOP hatred and don't even realize it IMO

.....back to the question: who will we "lefties" blame if we throw it all in w/ an inexperienced guy like Obama AND WE don't win the general & how is this any different than the GOP throwing in w/inexperienced AWOL GWB?
