People forget that he's only been in general election mode for one and a half months. He's still staffing a few offices here and there. McCain got a 3 month head start on general election oganizing,staffing and fundraising. He should be way ahead of Obama in all 3 areas. He's way behind on the first 2 and even,for now,on the 3rd. Obama hasn't even hit his stride yet.

voted overwhelmingly Democratic, the difference this time is that a Black man has a legitimate chance to be elected president. So far, Black have always voted for a White Man for president.

Quite possible. I doubt McCain could win running in Kenya.

May be what McCain is counting on, just go through the motions, keep Bush's 30%, tack on a few Democratic veterans, pick up racists in the Democrats and center, and slide on in. Dems may have found a way to lose an unlosable election, once more snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Blacks have always voted for a White man for President, this will be the 1st time they have departed from that.

Given modern communication, is an office either way a big deal? This isn't the old ward days, everybody knows Obama's positions, as well as McCain's, so not sure "stride" is valid.
