ABC, CBS, MS-NBC in the tank for Obama, Pt. 3
by Marine Dad OH

Interestingly, yesterday I took a chance and posted my deep concern about the unfairness and attempt by the big news from ABC, CBS, and NBC anchors to mask their affection for Obama on his upcoming tour of the mid-east. Never once did I mention I was a McCain supporter (not), a Republican (not, rather, a proud Independent), nor a fan of Fox News (not, but appreciate their good faith efforts) nor even a Dittohead follower of El Rushbo (okay, you got me there -- on occasion. But my level of disagreement with Rush is far from sufficient to brand me a dittohead).

In retrospect, I'm simply a lover of America. Our nation is blessed. Most of us work hard, love our military, and a few of us share a little deeper level of understanding when it comes to the sacrifice a precious few have paid to enjoy all the liberty and freedoms that we have in abundance to express our point of view. Sadly, one of the Senators running for office is a lame choice to be President. Yet, the three network anchors that are having "exclusive" interviews with him on this jaunt think he is the best choice for President. That one-sided lovefest masked as "news" is what upsets me. Plain and simple.

Ah but you can't believe like that because people that think & believe like you are instantly catagorized as white-redneck trailer-trash.

These obama supporters and the like out there preach "Freedoms, Liberties, Tolerance, and Diversity" yet they really don't practise it or believe it. I can't stand mc cain because hes just another species of bush and I can't stand obama because he and his followers are playing the race card to get into office. But the ones I can't stand the most are these hypocritical and race-obsessed obama supporters whose idea of sound politics, leadership, and judgement is whether or not the man/woman is black.

Dear Mr. "Holier than thou" Marine Dad from Ohio.

1) The networks gave the McCain campaign the same opportunity of accompanying him on his trips abroad. They declined. Why don't you apply some of your self professed "independent" thinking to that fact.

2) Sadly, one of the Senators running for office is a lame choice to be President. I assume you're talking about McCain. He has no credible proposals on the economy, his ideas about increasing troop stength in both Iraq and Afghanistan aren't reality based, he hasn't even began to think seriously about medical care...but they still petend that he's very credible. As an "unbiased" and "independent" voter, I'm surprised you missed any critical examination of McCain or his ideas.

3) few of us share a little deeper level of understanding when it comes to the sacrifice a precious few have paid to enjoy all the liberty and freedoms. Trouble with this line Sparky is that the 6 year, over $500 billion and over 5000 casuality Iraq war hasn't done one iota to keep this country safe nor protect any liberty or freedoms. In fact, the Bush Admin (and McCain as it's loyal puppy) have worked doggedly and undermining basic freedoms (a.k.a. District Attorney firings, etc.)

4) Most "Holier than thou" types, like to think they're "independent", when clearly they are not. They think they're mavericks and free thinkers, when in fact they are a perfect fool that for the Republican machine.

Bet you don't get upset about, political firing of DA's, wire taping, gov't secrecy. Those are just concerns of the unpatriotic "liberal" media who hate America and don't appreciate the "liberty and freedoms" we enjoy.

I wonder if McCain would come out now supporting the release of White House documents and the call for people like Rove and Meirs to testify before congress.

That would be my question in a town hall.....

Did you see McCain dance around the question of his votes against the GI bill and VA funding in the Denver town hall?

Marine Dad,

First I want to thank you for your son's standing up for our nation.

When Senator McCain went to Iraq all the above news organizations ask McCain if he wanted coverage. Senator McCain told them no. The reason was that Senator McCain wanted to have intimate conversations with the troops, the Combat Officers and the General Officers. McCain felt that if the press was there in force it would take away from his ability to get the real facts on the surge and the war in Iraq. Senator McCain didn't want to make his visit to the combat areas a circus. McCain wanted the unfiltered facts on the ground and he got what he wanted.

This was a choice, good or bad, that Senator McCain made.

Respectfully,

McCain's photo op.

I remember McCain's stroll through the Baghdad market. It seemed like he had plenty of coverage.....In fact, I object to his use of the troops for a photo op. There were 200 soldiers standing guard over McCain and if someone had attempted an attack on him as a very temping target, it would have been a completely unnecessary loss if we had casualties among his security detail.

This may be true. There were Blackhawk choppers in the air and marines on the ground. This was not the question of the Frayer.

What was ask is why Obama getting so much press and McCain got so little.

There was press at this photo op but McCain didn't want to make his meetings with the troops and the general officers a circus. McCain was dead serious on wanting to find out what was happening on the ground.

McCain simply limited somewhat the press to get the "real military picture" of the Iraq war. Senator McCain was not going to let the press take away from his fact finding tour.

Senator McCain got what he wanted. One on one private meetings with the general officers and conversations with the troops who were fighting the war. The press did not interfere with his meeting. Liimited press was McCain's idea.

respectfully,

wdp

We'll have to see if Obama's meetings with senior US officers is actually covered by the press. That, in fact, would seem pretty poor strategy for OBama....in my opinion.

Was a Republican until it sounded cooler to call yourself an independent. Billo does the same schtick and no one buys it. Whenever I hear about media bias and then in the same paragraph something like Fox News trys to be fair, I know I am dealing with a very biased poster.

Just admit it to yourself, you are a Republican and you will never vote for any Democrat for the POTUS. Admit it and then start all over again, please.

Well, the white guy litmus test worked for

about 230 years and I did not see you mention that in your little rant. If being White was the most important thing for them, then why not let being black be the most important thing now?

Yeah...I was fooled by the "good faith efforts" characterization and that he occasionally listens to Rush. Sounds almost independent.....

Heh,heh,heh.....I could only stomach Rush twice in my life......

they should let this moron stay over there and not let him back in the country

I could see how that might fit with your view of democracy. Eliminate any chance that the republican might lose by preventing a real election.....

Probably the only way that McSame is winning.
