Re: Hypocrisy Exposed
by Riley 2

Zam_Zam:

Why is it that you think if some people don't always do the right thing sometimes, that excuses everyone of doing nothing?

If a man kills his wife in a jealous rage does that excuse everyone who kills?

I know you value pesonal freedom, but even if someone only complies 10% of the time, it still is better than someone like you who doesn't think enough of our earth to try to do anything, anytime.

Re: Hypocrisy Exposed

"it still is better than someone like you who doesn't think enough of our earth to try to do anything, anytime."

And here's the problem. You have NO IDEA what Zam does or doesn't do in regard to the environment.

Not the slightest clue.

Yet you make asinine statements like the one above to self-justify your personal prejudices.

Why?

Your Premise Is False
by Zam-Zam

Why would you presume that I, personally, don't do anything to anything to help the environment?

Like most folks, I recycle. I also ride a bike or walk when practical (in part for the health benefits, I admit). I have planted thousands of trees in my lifetime, some in such far-off spots as Iceland, where trees are a rare commodity. We garden a lot at my house, very seldom run our air conditioner unless it is absolutely unbearable, never run a dishwasher, make use of the corkscrew lightbulbs, use a brick to displace water in the bottom of the tank, use only energy-efficient appliances, and in general lead a pretty energy-efficient lifestyle. Unlike Al Gore who talks the talk but refuses to walk the walk.

What's The Point Here?

Seasoldier/Some people never change, and then there are those that don't take it seriously, I'm neither! If I see something out there is wrong you ain't going to shut me up about it. At the same time, I have left the oil and energy companies in the dust, as many have, and started taking drastic actions not to conserve energy, but to change the corruptness of BIG OIL!

One of our first cars was ELECTRIC. I recall riding the ELECTRIC STREET CARS in Dallas as a youngster. Back then, did I foresee that BIG OIL would supplant LIGHT RAIL and HEAVY RAIL thereby laying thousands of more ASPHALT ROAD BEDS [OIL] while letting our nation's RAIL SYSTEMS drop in the crapper, NO?

Now that I am older I see how BIG OIL is doing everything to keep us from breathing clean air even at the expense of our nation's health. Don't worry, another bunch of CORPORATE THUGS running the TOBACCO INDUSTRY finally perjured themselves and got what they deserved. But still, there are those hard core idiots that won't listen to reason and come down on the side of BIG OIL, as if all the new finds would make a difference. Politicians are forced to admit that they have known all along that NO OIL SHORTAGE EXISTED, and now that proof has come forth these people are defecating in their pants. Even knowing this, certain Senators will take the floor and try to intimidate the public with PEAK OIL scares. Okay, boys and girls I got the message--so now let's see how much the oil companies benefit by lying.

Politicians are all corrupt otherwise they would sit down and figure out what America needs and get about the business of becoming the best not the worst!

Al Gore and his family have their faults just as you and I do, but at least he is trying to get people to change. Everyone talks about change but few actually change--they wait for others like scared rats! Marines don't stand on the beach after they have landed, they assault!

I'm really surprised that you would take such a stance and I have falsely concluded that someone in your family works for BIG OIL, or maybe even Halliburton! Don't worry, there are many of us out here to do the heavy lifting and we don't stand on the side lines either, nor do we bandi about hugging and kissing the backs and cheeks of politicians--they come to us!

Your CORPORATE MAN in power made his case in the above LINK. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

At least Riley 2 crawls out on the limb for something--I haven't seen you do that Boss Greer.

So now that you know that we are today the largest known OIL SOURCE in the world why is it again that we are in IRAQ? Oh, I know, it was because one of those dirty little terrorists was on a 911 plane, wasn't it? You need your head examined.

Seasoldier/Prove differently and you will get a personal apology, otherwise live with your idiots.

Do You Still Drive Your Gasoline Car?
by Seasoldier

Seasoldier/If so, you haven't done enough. We can't be ignoring reality Zam Zam. There's more you can do to cut back on your CARBON FOOT PRINT. All of the things you mentioned are fine, but we have to do more with less to break the backs of the OIL COMPANIES. If there is one thing I learned in ECONOMICS 101 it was how certain markets are driven by CORPORATIONS. If we allow this soon we won't have any ICE on the North Pole, but I suppose that doesn't matter to you, right?

Seasoldier/When the North Pole ice goes we will still be driving gas-hogs and emitting other CO's which we can gladly say we contributed to.

The supposed hypocrisy of this one man simply isn't an important matter. Either the message he's delivering is right or its wrong -- if it's right and he's too self-indulgent to curb his behavior accordingly, that doesn't subtract one bit from it being right. So why the obsessive right-wing focus on that trivial aspect of the story? The answer, of course, is that they prefer smearing individuals to talking about actual issues. It's the nature of the modern American right -- the only ammunition it has left are the "politics of personal destruction."

So in your world making unsupported attacks is a good thing?

What are you trying to say in your second paragraph? You are so wrapped up in personal attacks that you seem to have forgotten to make any sense?

We all live with our idiots, it's unavoidable.

I disagree strongly. It goes to whether the delivery agent believes the message they themselves are delivering. While I agree that it doesn't directly impact the truth or falsity of the message, it lends weight to error rather than validity.

Credibility is ALWAYS an important matter, your claim that a lack of ethics is immaterial notwithstanding.

As an aside, how often IS it permissible to ignore ethics? Always? Sometimes? Whenever it suits our purposes?

Yeah........

...and some of those idiots just like to argue for the sake of arguing, like JimmyC, yet never produce anything to back up their ASSumption of the facts! You might as well ride with Custer TB, he didn't listen, or use his head either, and paid with many lives as a result. But then those lives really wasn't his to deal with, right?

You understood what I said.

Seasoldier/Liars always run into the truth down the road.

Re: Hypocrisy Exposed

On another foot, how often are WE THE PEOPLE suppose to be lied to before we get one sentence of truth, regardless of the subject, from politicians? "Not with standing this or that" makes no difference in the language, but it dame sure does in the story!

I can a story of lies, and then I can lie about a story. Which is correct?

Have a nice day.

My fault...BG, but the message is the same and was intended for you. In other words my message fits everyone. Hahahahaha

Seasoldier/Thanks for brining that oversight to my attention BG.

I don't see any serious reason for suspicion that he doesn't believe what he says he believes. If he didn't believe it, he'd just be setting himself up to look pretty foolish down the road.
