Sick to death

I'm sick to death of journalists using the "T" word to get their articles into print. DK is not about terrorism in any way, shape or form except in the ambitions of Dana Stevens.

Have you seen the movie, Bob? I kinda doubt it, so how do you know what Dark Knight is about?

Hate to point out the obvious, but Dana's job is to review movies. She does it every week, and what do you know, Slate posts them. I don't think I've ever seen her bring up terrorism before. Don't be silly.

My face is scarlet red with embarrassment. I had only my children's initial reports to go on and I said a very stupid thing. Dana, if you're listening, I'm sorry.

I just saw the movie and yes, it is about terrorism. Very much so. I don't like the way it's about terrorism because it shows that we should be very afraid because terrorists can do unbelievable (literally) things. Like set dozens of explosive charges in a hospital without anyone realizing it. Like loading dozens of fifty-gallon drums of gasoline into a working ferry-boat without anyone realizing it. The list of absurdities in this movie go on and on -- but given Americans' ability and willingness to attribute diabolical abilities to terrorists (such that we should spend trillions and burn the Constitution to shield ourselves) there are undoubtedly those for whom the Dark Knight will only confirm their fears. Other than that, it was fun. Sorry again, Dana.

Spoilers, dude! Some readers want these plot points and scenes to unfold before their eyes, not have them ruined by a mouthy poster.

And yeah, I'd be mightily embarrassed, too, if I expounded so vehemently on something I hadn't even seen yet.

I'll be sure to avoid your comments in future.
